hey i just started a grow in a rented apartment and so obviously i can't make holes in the door for ventilation. i was wondering if anyone had any ideas how to take care of the smell problem when my plants do start flowering

Along with this, buy some ONA gel or pucks to put outside the grow room for any leaks....

Why not remove the door and make a temporary door (plywood or something) that you can put holes in. When you move out or tear down, replace the original door.

If all you are worried about is the smell, then a can fan type thing hooked up to a carbon filter can still do the trick. It will just recycle the air within the space and filter out the smell. This is called scrubbing. It's not as effective as dumping the stale air out, but it does work.
