NIRVANA'S Royal Flush and Short Rider

Good evening people!
Things are going great at my grow! Except that Short Rider #5 is dead. 5 seeds - no sprout, not a good ratio, huh

Ok SR was not the goal of my grow. The main plant is Royal Flush which is doing very good. It is filling up the screen and the new heads are sprouting up from those old stems. As I have upgraded my cab I think I will let them grow. I don't know how many buds there will be but now it is already over 20.
After transplantation the roots were about 15-20cm from the bottom of pot but after 8 days I noticed couple white tips sprouting out of holes at the very bottom of pot. They grow as hell.




There are also pics that are taken earlier this week, but the last two are at today.



I have now upgraded the cab to 464watts of light. I know this is too much now. I have switched off HPS and fluoros but I will have them running after switching to 12/12. The old cooking hood turned out broken so I couldn't use it as additional fan but it looks like I can keep 28 degrees even with my small bathroom fan. I will have to invest in some proper inline fan because the smell is still coming through one carbon filter. I have to add the second one but then the bathroom fan will be too weak to cool my HPS and gather the hot air from my cab through two carbon filters. Check the DIY cool tube at the next post later

I don't know if anyone has tried this but i hope that I am the first one. I got the idea from thread where man was using glass cooking tube that can be ordered from E-bay. I decided to make my own glass tube from 2L beer bottle.
Stuff that was needed:
Bottle;
Wool string;
Acetone or some other fast burning liquid;
Lighter;
Bucket with cold water;
Camera;
Gloves;
Aluminum tape;
ventilation tubes
metal connector for ventilation tubes;
socket for your HPS and some metal plate where you can attach it.

To start you have to roll the wool string around the bottle at the place where you want to cut it. Then pour the acetone to the string that it gets wet. Light it up and turn the lighting part up that the rest of the bottle doesn't heat from the flames. As the liquid has burned up put the bottle immediately in cold water. Heated part will fall off. Make the same process with the other end of the bottle. Now you have nice glass tube. The edges are quite sharp. Be careful.
Attach the bulb socket to the metal plate and put it in the place in metal tube connector. I used wood screws to fix it in the place. Now you can tape the whole thing to your glass tube. Don't forget to connect the wire for your bulb. Later tape the ventilation tubes to your cool tube and put the whole thing in you cab. Some reflector wouldn't harm as well. I cut off piece from the big one and taped it to the tube. I attached one carbon filter and bathroom fan to the end but it looks too weak. I will need some more powerful fan to blow through those filters and cool the HPS. But the idea is clear. Homemade cool tube is ready and works.

Haha what the fuck! Ur a genius! I had zero idea you could so quickly, easily and effectively cleanly cut glass. Looks like quite a small bulb, perfect for the cool-tube. the real question is can you feel its effectiveness? Is it reducing the amount of heat reaching your canopy?

Thank you for appreciation. As I have written, it works already. There is 28 degrees at canopy level. If I manage to buy more powerful fan it will work even better.

Fucking awesome DIY man! If I weren't already leaning tward switching to LED I'd definitely make up a cooltube this way if I had HID lighting. Thanks for the comments on my grow as well. I'll begin flushing tomorrow so I can clip my baby by next week.

It hasn't taken a long time as I am here with another McGyver deserving project.

I made DIY cool tube previously but my bathroom fan was too weak to cool it through carbon filters. So I had to find one more powerful blower.

My first idea was to use radiator fan from some car and build a shell around it to make it as an in-line fan. But then my brother suggested to use heating blower. We had one from Audi 80 in our garage.

It had a bit broken shell but we fixed it quickly by soldering the plastic.

The main objective was to adjust it that there could be connected carbon filter and ventilation tube at another end. I had bought plastic wall attachment for 100mm tube

We soldered the plastic parts to the fan shell that it had enough area for 100 mm tube and there were no leaks.

Next step was to attach the tube to shell. we started by soldering but afterwards we discovered that burning plastic nicely melts together both parts and makes them as one. Almost welding.

There were another hole for some reason in the shell so I had to close it as well using the same technique.

Filter attachment was another thing to think about. I had two brand new 160mm carbon filters from cooking hood (afterwards I discovered that they don't remove all the smell, but that's later.) They are round but fan shell has square hole. I took a wooden plate and sawed an exact size square hole there with jigsaw. Attached it to the fan with wooden screws and used sanitary silicone to calk the connection.

For the filter I took another wooden plate and milled a 160mm hole using a pre-made template for 160mm holes. Then glued the filter to the plate and screwed both together. Used silicone again for the connection.

Last but the most important thing to worry about was to ensure the right power for the fan. as you know. car stuff mostly works on 12v. The switch has different resistors to dim volts for slower speeds. Pure 12v is the max speed and it can blow your plant trough the filter so I had to make it run on lower volts. As I didn't want to order special transformer, one my friend suggested that PC power block has quite strong power on 5v. The fan has 30A fuse in car so it means it works with 20A strong power approximately on 12v. That means that on 5v it needs not more than 10-15A. Usual 5v phone chargers and similar stuff works with some 1 or 2A max. But 250w PSU gives out 25A. That is the thing that I need.

Next step was asking to my friend Google how to fire this PSU without MotherBoard and it gave the needed info in first finding.

Last thing was to connect those wires and attach the fan to my cab.

So I have quite powerful fan for 9 EUR (the price of PSU) Not Bad! And it is so silent on those 5v. That PC coolers in my cab make bigger noise than this massive blower.

Hello grow bros!!

Things are going great in my cab. Switched to 12/12 four days ago and there are already signs of rapid grow. She is def taller than before switching.

I am giving her half dose of veg nutes, half dose of bloom nutes and Cal for stronger roots, looks like she likes this.

With my new ventilation system temps are keeping in good levels. The extra bathroom fan that was not needed for exhaust I put on the ground of cab that it raises the incoming air directly to the canopy.

As I wrote in my DIY post the only problem is that smell is coming through my carbon filters. Everyone who comes in my apartment says that they can smell something. I have to go to shop and buy some stuff to make my own carbon filter as soon as possible. I've already checked some DIY threads. It's quite simple to make one.

This looks like about the same size as when I had my first grow attempt (bagseed: they all ended up being male D: ) . Really digging your DIY heat removal from the lamp! Your lady looks mighty pretty as well!

mine can't be male anymore. I've found tiny pistills this morning. As Bonzi Lighthouse said, it doesn't matter they are tiny yet. Good news are that they are white and they are hair

Thanks for stopping by and appreciating my girl. She grows as crazy these days. Maybe I'll manage to slip some quick update tomorrow morning. Now it's night for her. She has to have a good sleep

Wow looks nice and bushy, glad to see your cooling method has payed off. I just finished up my largest grow thus far in my days. Got 3.789 Oz from my Kaya Gold. Can't wait to see how frosty your lady gets.

Hi there!
Royal Flush has grown crazy last week and has done some 10 -12 cm. Maybe my lights are too far because there has streched a very big space between nodes. So I decide to train her down to the screen. Unfortunately broke two stems, but hopefully they will heal. As I have seen in threads, they always do!

attached the bottom fan to the cab wall. Now it works as intake fan. And temp has gone down now as it takes the cold air from the floor of apartment and directs it to the canopy! Only noise has raised. Oh and there is intake filter on the bottom hole. I stretched and taped pantyhose here
