hi,.. does anybody have expirience growing nirvana ice? ive got one thats been in 12/12 for 15 weeks today, and the hairs are still about 90% white and plump and the trics are still all clear with some cloudy

does it normally take this long to bud out?

im in a 2x3 ft closet with 2 65 watt cfls (2700k)

i was wondering if the cfl's drag out the bud time over hps lights

15 weeks?

Are you talking from seed it has been 15 weeks...or 15 weeks since you first saw white hairs?

no 15 weeks since the beginning of 12/12 did not pay attention to when the first hairs came out, but it was at least 4 weeks in 12.12

i just had a similar experience with cfl's and another strain
11 weeks for a strain the breeder quoted as 8 weeks - of course breeder guides are believed to be a bit optimistic
i harvested at 11 weeks, but i could have gone a lot longer, the 1st amber had just appeared

it's not the cfls.

You have to pay attention to when the white hairs come out. Write it down somewhere. Personally I think your times are waaaaaaaaaaaay off.

There is no way you have been going at it for 15 weeks and it's not even close to done.

You say atleast 4 weeks flowering? Then you need 4 more weeks!

I'm no expert, but I know there is something very wrong with this statement.

It should never take over 2 weeks for hairs to appear on a plant that has switched to 12/12. My guess is that you either didn't switch to the correct flowering nutrients and cut off the veg nutrients, or your flowering area has light leaks that prevented your plants going into flower correctly.

You can't count those 4 weeks of no pistils as part of the plants flowering period, as it wasn't really flowering during those 4 weeks.

I'm no expert either, but I do have years of experience.. and I felt the need to say something here.

There's no time limit for a plant to show its sex. My current grow, is actually my last 'ICE' plant (from Nirvana). As of today, she's 43 days into flowering (43 days since it showed its first hairs). I gave her 3 weeks of veg time.. after the three week veg period, I then switched her lighting schedule over for flowering. It actually took her 17 days to begin flowering (to show its sex).

Therefore, I have to disagree with you on that. The plant's themselves, decide exactly when to do what it needs to do. Also, this isn't the first plant I've had.. that actually took more than 14 days (two weeks) to begin flowering.

Just wanted to clear that up. Also, I believe that (not 100% on this) but I'm fairly sure I remember reading somewhere, rather it was on the internet or an actual book.. can't quite remember which exactly.. but I'm pretty sure that Sativa dominant strains take longer to not ONLY flower.. but also take a bit longer to actually start flowering (show sex). Again, not 100% on where I read that.. but I remember reading it somewhere.

Anyhow, hopefully that helped clear up any confusion. ;)

peace.

just listen to your plant man, she will let you know when she is ready, every strain is different. like leaks (dim anyway) should never be a problem. if that were true then our planet would be dead. ever heard of moonlight? anyways. your probably just fine. keep an ey on the trichs and when they are all cloudy then your ready to go. good luck. mmmmmmmmmuah!
