NH passes ridiculous MMJ law

There is a story in today's print edition of the Press Herald that does not appear to be online, at least not yet.

NH has passed a MMJ law that, after compromise, the governor is expected to sign.

Some highlights:

Patients with cancer, Crohn's, and other conditions eligible
Allowed to possess up to 2 oz obtained from one of 4 dispensaries
No patient growing

Here is where it gets really silly. Considering the difficulty that Maine dispensaries have in meeting demand, do the math on this:

Each of the four dispensaries are allowed a maximum of 80 plants, 160 seedlings, and 80 oz of prepared marijuana OR 6 oz per qualifying patient. They also have a limit of 3 mature plants, 12 seedlings and 6 oz per patient.

I admit I am a little confused about it, but it seems to me that it isn't very scalable. If they get a lot of patients (and they will, with no patient growing), the overall limits will prevent them from meeting demand even worse than in Maine.

Legalizing MMJ but then restricting the supply and not allowing people to grow their own meds is not a step forward, imo. Glad I live in Maine.

That would be hard. NH already has some of the worst MJ laws in the country. Are they going to start putting people on death row for having a joint now?

Anyway, this should be good for Maine caregivers and dispensaries, especially in southern and western Maine. It will take 2 years before NH MMJ cards are issued, but once they are, NH patients can buy from Maine caregivers and dispensaries. NH patients can also grow in Maine if they want. An NH patient can do anything in Maine that a Maine patient can, as long as they have the right paperwork.

Maine caregivers cannot sell weed in NH. You still cannot sell weed to a patient with whom you do not have a written agreement with. I don't believe you can have a written agreement with a NH patient, as a caregiver in Maine.
Maine does allow reciprocating laws, so a certified patient from another state can obtain meds in Maine, but my reading of the law says that it would be a donation from the caregiver. Same for a dispensary, I believe. Others may read it differently.

Even though there are provisions in law for selling to visiting patients, and the patient form tells visiting patients what they provide in order to purchase legally in Maine, caregivers and dispensaries cannot sell to patients that are visiting.

I can't possibly use or afford the "amount" I am permitted to purchase under Maine guidelines. When you people are talking mass quantities .... I get worried.

It is absolutely absurd that they are not letting patience grow their own. What good is the law if it is still restricting access to such a high degree. I thought NH was "live free or die". I guess not

I will sell to visiting patients if they have the right paperwork. They most likely need to work with me before they visit Maine. NH patients won't have NH state issued mmj cards for a couple years, so I can't do anything for people in NH yet. I am considering helping some CT patients. They won't have a legal way to get meds in CT for over a year.

That chart is sorta wrong everyone of my friends that has been caught with
various amounts. You plea guilty in court and you get a $420 fine dead serious. I'm from New Hampshire and the cops around here don't really care t hat much about it they will usually take your bag and stomp it in the dirt and let you go. You can even go back and get your gross gritty sandy weed after :(

Yeah its serious I've had one friend get caught with a 1/8th. He got a $420 fine. then another that just got caught with a dirty pipe different charge all together still 420. I think they just do it to see if the stoners pop off laughing lol. It is a pretty sick joke but at least they don't fine as much as they could. NH cops for the most part respect your privacy you have to be doing something real stupid and indiscrete to get caught. Anyway I got a written referral from my pcp for medical mj too bad it almost means next to nothing at the moment at least if I get popped with a bag at least I have that to protect my neck.
