I scout out a spot a week or two before I bring the equipment. I usually bring a joint or two and some fishing supplies, ie fishing pole bait and what not, maybe some beers lol. ANyways, I pretend or actually fish and hike around and scope and mark spots on my printed map of places that would be ideal for outdoor growing. After i select my grow spots, usually 3 seperate areas i return with the grow equipment and till up the soil and get everything up and working and depending on if i am using clone or seeds i will make another trip. I usually use both and grow the clones for about a month before putting to outdoor grow as to give it a head start. What I am doing for my next grow is using a cheap solar panel and submirsible pump, placing the pump in a nearby stream and some pvc or tubing leading to the hiden grow. Allows for me to only visit the spot twice, once for planting and once for harvesting ya digg. Good luck you guys

I like that solar panel idea, pretty hardcore. How early do you prep the soil, a month, a week, a day, or what? I dunno if smoking a J while you're scouting is really a good idea, though.

Yea my J's are secret agents. I don't smoke cigs but i use a cig pack and take a couple out and make them into joints where the tips have tobacco and the rest is weed.
I prep the soil the day of or the day before. Sometimes a week before. Just depends on how fast you work, and how big of a grow you will be doing.
The solar panel thingy works well, you can get a timer for it and a battery pack but it is not necessary as the pump will turn on when there is sun which means it will water it while it is bright out. Kind of an auto timer. You can get a premade water pump that has a solar panel for maybe 30 dollars or something or you can get the solar panel for like 5 to 10 dollars and the pump for around the same. Just make sure you get the right panel or pump cause the solar panel has to output enough to run the pump.

Thanks a lot man. I've used that cig pack idea before, but I never thought of making the tip tobacco. I don't think I'm gonna do an irrigation setup. I'll have to go back a few times to spray with BT, and whatnot. I'd like to see pics when you set that up though.

I wont be making an update often on it and it wont be till later but just watch my journal or signature and you will see the planning and preparation of it. I plan on doing 13 plants in each 2 - 3 grow areas

Most solar panels are built with a layer that stop reflection of the light, as to absorb all useable light =)
They are hard to see and blend well, they even make some that are see through and some underwater ones.

it is best to prep your spot now. if you do it in the spring you will kill all the weeds and small foliage that will eventually hide your plot. If you wish to grow organics you need to prep now because the soil must be wet for awhile so the nutes can be broken down into a usable state.

What if I'm not growing organics? I'm probably going to use a mixture of guano (bat or bunny mixed with a bit of worm casings, if I can find it), lime, coco-fiber, water crystals, and the original soil. I'll probably mulch with bark, towards the beginning of the growing season. Actually, I just realized that pretty much all organic stuff. I'll probably prep my area next weekend. Wish me luck!

g/l google earth is a good way to spot out areas, could help to eliminate a lot of possibilities just by seeing what's around. ya know?
