Next step to make this into shatter?

So far:
Blastation into the pyrex dishes...then double boiler over low heat until big bubbles stopped forming.....no, I dont have a vacuum chamber.
I normally make wax by whipping it over low heat but I would like to try something different this time.

What is the next step to turn this into a clear finished product?...Shatter is preferred , but oil is fine too..

Initial evaporation took about 15 mins using a fan. Then heated for 20 mins, rotating between the two.

Any advice from experienced oilmen is of great value

Keep it around 110 or lower, and purge away. Are you vacuuming it, or just the water bath?

I should say next step is scrape it off that Pyrex.

I don't have a vac....yet.
its been on the pyrex for about 6 hrs, just waiting for it to degass....
So get it on some parchment paper then slowly heat it no more than 110 and spread it around?

the only way to purge it properly would be to use a secondary solvent, since you do not have a vac, and that will get you what i call tru-shatter.

gets some everclear and put your bho in the everclear and you will see some bubbles form these are the last of the butane escaping your oil. then place the mix into freezer for 24 to 48 hours and let the waxes fats and lipids separate, then filter it through coffee filters onto a pyrex dish and let a fan blow over it gently. after a few hour it should be purged.

Thanks for the pointer. Are there any other solvents that would work just as good or better? I'm in CA and don't know if they sell the high alc% everclear here...



Maybe this is why my sativa bho looks like wax even though I never whipped it?
The 2nd pic with the side-to-side comparison shows my sativa on the left and my indica on the right, both made with the same exact way, but the indica is clear.
Do sativa's contain more waxes?

And simply buying a vac would solve this winterizing step right?
If that's the case, the vac seems worth it.

I too am in California,I use 99% ISO to winterize because 190 proof isn't very easy to obtain here.

the polarity of everclear make it better for winterizing, there are plenty of fine wine and spirits websites that will mail yall everclear

and that is a common misconception, i can see through it there for it is cleaner..... that is not the case
waxing up times is strain dependent, some strains wax up faster then others. fresher stuff and material that was harvested earlier will wax up more quickly then older material or material that was harvested later on when the thrichs have turned mostly amber. this is because the thc is breaking down and turning into an acid which actually doesn't like to coagulate up which will give you a goo like consistency

and no a vac chamber will not eliminate your need to winterize, it will just make it possible for you to purge your bho properly with out having to winterize.

typo?

The brittleness of shatter is hard because the resin from fresh material, the THC-A still in it's carboxylic acid group.(concrete)

It is through decarboxylation that the resin becomes soft, This occurs during cure or exacerbated by the influence of heat.(oleoresin)

Once I've evaporated the everclear whats the best way to get it off the pyrex and into shatter form?
Freeze pyrex then scrape onto parchment and heat/spread at 120?

Is there anyway to reverse the softness?
I'm not sure if the soft texture is the result of excess wax/lipids as twitch mentioned earlier, or due to being decarbed as you say.
I don't think I went above 220 in heat purging and I didnt cure it....I put my dried close-trim in the freezer for about 2 months before blasting it just the other day...

Unfortunately if you hit 220° F for any excessive amount of time..even 5 min will at the very least decarb the resin partially.

And unfortunately, the resin will never harden up again.

This is a very common mistake amongst oil makers, and there is a bright side to this seemingly gloomy cloud.

Your oil is most likely now fully activated and can be used for oral meds, REALLY strong oral meds at that.

Dissolve into warm organic coconut oil, use an oral syringe to fill empty gel caps.
I got a freezer with a bunch of really strong caps..

Perfect for all symptoms of every plight humans encounter..lol


Seriously though, the caps are near transcendental, very spiritual experience.

That is if you are able to stay awake of course.

Close your eyes and enjoy the ride!

we keep our oil inside the pyrex for 3 days. on 100-130.. with no vac.. and get a good product.. but.. now that my chamber is here. next run will be amazing.
