Hey Really?, I've followed you from thread to thread as you keep restarting

I'm resubmitting my vote for chocolate chunk, btw!

I'm having some germination problems...How many days from: A - dry seeds get water => B - leaves sprouted above the surface

Thanks!
For me it has been less than 4 days. Most have shown at about 36 hours or so. What you doin exactly? I may just try the chocolate chunk, got that one for the wife or brownies. Just not sure if she would smoke it or not just for the chocolate taste. She LOVES chocolate! It will be added soon I'm sure.

phuq bro, they look hella nice. This on a cfl? If so, give her some siq wattage during flowering, she'll luv ya 4it
Thanks bro, I am using CFL's the entire grow. For flowering I am planning on 6 30w bulbs. I will be posting specs once flowering chamber is complete. As far as total lumens and watts.

Looking pretty good so far. You are pretty much exactly where I was 6 months ago. I got laid off right after I started my low budget perpetual harvest sog grow. And I used mostly BMO nutes. And my wife is anti-smoking. My first flowering chamber was only about 36" tall.

Here's what I've learned so far. Bigger pots are much more forgiving. I started off flowering in 6" pots. I had several fairly successful harvests, but was constantly trying trying to correct different deficincies. And that's when I wasn't burning them from feeding too often. I'm not saying it can't be done. I'm just saying it makes things more difficult, especially for a newbie. I moved to 8", and then 10" pots. A couple extra inches of pot size can make a HUGE difference in plant growth and health. You probably will have to LST, but it's really not that difficult.

Keep you cfl bulbs as close as possible. I try to keep mine around 1". You will have to adjust them much more often, but your girls will thank you for it.

BMO has worked really well for me so far. Watch out for an mg deficincy though. I see you've already discovered OSG. His posts have really helped me out a lot.

You have some quality genetics already. Before I spent any more money on seeds, I would make sure that my exhaust/odor control is up to the job. And as long as you can cool them, you can never have too many cfl bulbs in your box.

That's all I can think of for now. Good luck with your grow, and from hiding it from the wife. It took a long time for mine to let me star my new favorite hobby.

Hey Howard, Im glad you were able to make it. I know this grow is not the norm. I do not mind failing as long as I learn to succeed. This style of grow is not for everybody, but when I saw the Dr's results, I had to try it. I will keep a look out for the mg deficiency for sure though.

Yeah Ohsogreen is great with organics. I also like he is cost effective. I was looking at all kinds of stuff before I ran into his thread on SPT. Good stuff for sure. Do you use his feeding schedule? I have a couple other questions for you if you don't mind. What were you using as far as soil? Also what in the world did you say or do to convince the wife? Hopefully, I will still have mums for clones even if I fail. I do believe I can succeed though. I will try a more traditional method if I fail. Please stick around I enjoy your company and thanks for the advice.

Thanks for offering to help, Really?! You can read my grow log from my sig, but here's a summary:

Seeds
Seeds are placed on a damp paper towel, which is folded over and sealed inside a plastic bag.

The bag is placed underneath of a plate in my grow area.

Grow Area
My grow area is in my attic. It is not enclosed. Temps vary from 60-90F (16.6-32.2C)

Lights
The lighting rig has three 42W, 2700K CFLs, which hang 3" from the tops of my pots.

Pots
When seeds have germinated in the paper towel, I transplant them to hydrated jiffy-7 peat pellets.
They are inserted, root tip down, then covered with a sprinkling of peat.

Progress
4/10 Seeds placed in wet paper towel to germ
Lights on 18/6
4/12 Seeds in paper towel put under plate for darkness
One seed has germinated
4/14 Germinated seed, with 1/4" root, transplanted to jiffy-7 peat pellet/pot
Lights switched to 24/0
4/15 Second seed germinates, is planted in jiffy-7
Up until this point, the lights and plants have been wrapped in tinfoil. It is possible that temperatures in excess of 90F (32C) may have been reached. Foil removed.
4/16 Third seed germinated, planted. Peat pellets are kept moist with a daily sprinkling of water
4/19 Still no seedlings. 20+ bagseeds placed in paper towel to germinate
4/20 Despite it being 420, WeedGod hasn't bestowed me with a seedling. Total of 7 germed seeds have been planted in pots...

So the first seed germed and placed in a jiffy-7 has had 6 days to sprout. Maybe it was cooked in my tinfoil oven.

In the past two days I've changed things around, redistributing the peat so the seeds aren't totally buried, germinating and planting new seeds. I guess I won't start to get freaked out until 4 more days have passed without seedlings.

So as not to hijack Really?'s thread, perhaps replies should be sent to my grow log, which can be found in my sig.

I don't really follow his feeding schedule. Until recently, I didn't really have the space to do much vegging. Right now I just use some espoma plant tone mixed in the soil, along with a little bit of blood meal during veg. I had been making teas with my SPT, but with my new grow area I don't really have a good place to bubble a tea in the quantity I need. My grow medium is promix bx, which already has myco fungi in it. During flower I use FP and some high P guano I got from BMO.

I know I could use a little more N now that I veg longer. I'll be ordering some GIG soon.

Please don't take anything I say as gospel, or let me discourage your growing style. I'm still a newbie who makes plenty of mistakes, but I'm getting better .:blsmoke: I just wanted to share a little bit of what I've learned so far.

As far as convincing my wife, that took quite a while. About 4 years or so. I did have the advantage of her being a former pot smoker. She knows it's not like real drugs. Her problem was just that it's illegal. I finally convinced her that it is LESS risky for me to grow my own. I don't sell, and only a couple trusted family members know. In my state possesion of 14g is a felony. I smoke 28g+ monthly. Since I haven't had a reliable dealer in a couple years, I was having to buy smaller amounts, more often. That meant 2-4 transactions monthly. I was having to deal with sketchy people, in neighborhoods I'd rather not have been in. I finally convinced her that it was just a matter of time before something bad happened. Not to mention the $100-150 a month I was smoking up. Since we both agree that I am only tolerable if I've smoked :fire:, quitting is not an option.

Sorry it took so long to reply. I've gone from being unemployed to getting quite a bit of work all of a sudden.

Good luck with your grow, I'll be following this thread.

Hey Howard, I'm glad you will be following. My wife would be a lot easier to deal with if she had some experience, oh well. I will have to move my grow soon or she will find it. SLH is starting to stink up the room it's in. Pretty strong too. I have a feeling it will reek during flower, bad. Everything else is coming along nicely. I will be taking my time with this grow so that it has the best chance of being succesful. I am starting GIG next watering for everything over 2 weeks old. I will follow that up with RO water, then SPT a few days apart, and repeat. I've decided to flower my Kali Mist first, theese will not be cloned until female is found. Connie Chung will be cloned along with SLH and Sensi Star. Once those clones have roots they will be put into flower. That's the plan for now, I'll see how it all plays out. Congrats on the extra work, it's good to know that people are hiring still. I hope I get a call soon too.
:peace:

Good luck with the Kali, it's at the top of my wish list. If any of your strains are starting to smell strongly now, they will reek during flowering. And drying them is usually my smelliest phase. Carbon filters are cheap to make, and very effective if done right. It would really suck to get deep into flowering and have to shut everything down because of smell.

As far as your wife goes, I have seen several nonsmoking wives/girlfriends become converted to smokers. They usually become the biggest potheads once they realize what they have been missing. Kali is supposed to be excellent for menstrual cramps, maybe that might be able to work in your favor. I'm assuming she at least knows you smoke?
