i would snag a 400 watt hps reflector and bulb. (hydrofarm makes a great product) and yes, regular sockets can handle them, but you need a ballast that plugs into it.

i also wouldn't start with 15 plants on my first grow. try five to get the hang of things and then move up. your first grow is going to take 5 - 6 months from seed in the ground to cured, beautiful buds. it's a lot of time and energy to put into 15 plants and then to have something go wrong and lose the whole crop. learn small. hope that helps. good luck, dude!

I would leave the extra perlite out of the FF ocean forest. It already has a good amount in it.

ok my question is when in vegatation how much light is needed i was told 12-light an 6 dark? also when do i switch to hps i mean how can i tell when its ready?its my first crop i got 4 soil an 2 hydro.an how often to i water them an whats the deal with flushing?

thanks for the great tips this is the lamp set up i just purchased cost me a hefty sum im down to 190$ to spend on this project i went for the bigger lame and 1k watts because eventually i'll be growing in the entire room and this set up can apparently take care of that for me. ALSO ONE MORE QUESTION. WHAT NUTES AND at what state do i start giving them to my girls VEG STATE= WHAT NUTES, FLOWERING STATE=WHAT NUTES . preferably high quality store bought already mixed nutes are FOX FARMS NUTES ANY GOOD AND WHICH ONES FOR WHAT STAGE of my ladies growth?

you can always go with the fox farm & gh flora trio packs each bottle has instructions for proper mixing during stages...but my buds n i have been workin with the lucas formula with gh flora micro & bloom, just search for it has been workin good so far...
