Newbie experiment

looks like a bud to me. just no hairs
Well, I'm now convinced that all three of the plants remaining from my experiment are, in fact, males.

However, I have learned A LOT from this experiment and intend on getting some good feminized seeds and having a real go at it.

Lessons learned:

1) CFLs are very effective, but I will have to LST next time
2) These plants grow IN SPITE OF my noobishness
3) The area I have set aside for this is MORE than big enough
4) You needn't invest thousands for a personal grow
5) DON'T use Miracle Grow soil!
6) DON'T be intimidated by the seeming complexity of growing these beautiful plants
7) This is fun as hell!

Thanks to any and all who provided input and/or subscribed to the thread.

Yeah i was afraid of that. I never let a male get that far so i wasn't completely sure what it looked like but, those didn't look like ladies. Sorry man bad luck.
But I applaud your attitude toward to whole thing. And the lessons you stated above are spot on! CFL's ARE very effective. much more so than most would have you believe. And the LST will help a lot. https://www.rollitup.org/indoor-growing/196569-great-riu-lst-thread-low.html It will allow you to keep more of your plant within an effective distance of the bulbs. i once vegged 4 plants for 6 weeks using only one bulb each. But i had them trained so that the whole plant received adequate light. Basically i trained them in a circle around the bulb. It worked pretty good.
Be careful with the feminized seeds. i've decided against getting them. They can hermie easily if you stress them from what i understand. I have made a mom instead. Since day one I've been getting about 75-80% female plants from random seeds i get from a friend. I might be having good luck i that area, but i dont have a need to buy fem seeds. I understand your attraction to them after putting so much effort into what turned out to be males but....

You're right tho it is fun as hell! Good luck on your next grow! :joint::peace:

Can you make a Mom using LST? I'm guessing that isn't the best since what you're wanting is a large plant that stays in Veg indefinitely . . .

So . . . get the 10 pack of seeds from a place like Nirvana? Then germinate and plant them?

I mean, I'd hate to plant a few more from the bagseed and get the same results.

Maybe I can just scope out the "best looking" seeds from my collection?

LST is great for a mom. You can keep it a managable size. (moms can grow out of control quickly because flowering takes longer than vegging), and the LST will provide plenty of growing tips to clone.

Make sure you have a very good germination method. None of that paper towel nonsense! I'd hate to see you pay for seeds and then not get plants out of them, which has happened to people. Germinate your seeds right in the soil you will grow them in. keep them dark, warm, & moist they will sprout.

I always germinated twice as many as i could flower, assuming some would be male and get tossed out.

In my experience the "best looking" seeds mean nothing. The best looking SEEDLINGS don't mean anything either. One guy kept the best looking seedlings and they all turned out male. (males are USUALLY the bigger stronger looking plants {but dont go by that})
I'm going to keep on with my bagseeds and my mom (still waiting for the 1st batch of clones to root) untill i perfect my methods. THEN maybe I'll buy some super chronic seeds, NYC diesel sounds jammin, or some Massachusetts super skunk.:hump: But I've been VERY happy with the quality of my bagseed smoke. And others have sang its praises too, and they did not know i grew it myself.:joint: :peace:
