okay so i didnt wanna try a complex way of collecting pollen from my purple jem male flowered the quickest so he was the lucky pimp so what i did was built him a rubbermaid grow cab with 6 red spec cfls and placed paper plates around the stem so now 3 weeks later hes dropping the last of his pollen and yes the plates are covered im wondering now if this pollen will actually be viable personally i think it should be fine but just wanna know what others think oh n he will be bred to the biggest purple jem female for seed only the bottom portion and to the bottom portion of my fem white widow so pollen good ya or nah

you can pollinate selected buds, a lot do just that, a tiny paint brush and stroke the buds you want to fert
and like businessman said, you probably have a mix of good and bad pollen, the old stuff may have 'died'
it's moisture that kills pollen, the sooner you dry it, the longer it stays good

6 weeks seems the number quoted most for the time for seeds to ripen properly
so at least 6 weeks before your harvest time
though that may be a little tough to guess, depending on how your ripening actually goes

gonna flip 12/12 tomorrow after a week i will add pollen
maybe wait just a little longer than that, you do want the pistils to develop enough
the sticky in the Advanced Growing forum has some info on this
good luck either way
