Newbie - 1st post - 2nd grow - topping??

Hi All,
I am an older gentleman near retirement. Just an old hippie.
1st grow was a learning process. Nearly killed the plant 4 times by spider mites and insufficient watering due to schedule. A semi-success. 1 oz Pineapple Kush

I have a homemade box using CFL's for now. 16" deep, 46" wide, 46" tall, insulated.
Question. Growing 2 Big Bud seeds in 7th day doing well. Does this plant grow with one main stalk or does it bush out? 2nd question. Should I "top" a couple of times to force bushing out? What about training? (Iknow...3 questions).

yea .. one main steam .. and sure topping or FIM works great ..

in short .. it make it a bush insted of a tree ...

I just finished a big bud grow and I must warn you she gets BIG and heavy, my main cola was 94grm and two sides 30+grms. I lst'd her at week 4 and she bushed out , once I find the wire imma put pics up. Good Luck..

My experience with Big Bud grows in the past is that it is a central cola growth pattern with some side branches that can have trouble supporting the potentially large buds growing there. Considering your grow box most advantageous method to manipulate the growth hormones would be FIM( fucked I missed). FIM is basically topping however you have left about 10% of node behind. What that will do is distribute the growth hormone downwards but not all the way down the plant. If done correctly it will generate more cola sites. So rather having one central cola that could be massive, you will have multiple cola sites that could be uniform in size. Good luck and unfortunately growing is trial and error regardless how much you read or listen to others. Be patient :-)..

have you got any pic's as this is my best just under 1 oz's bud dried cured
and the wet weight was round 5 oz's

not a bad ideal if i was short of space and wanted them to dry quick

but no, takes 7-10 days to dry in space between the veg and flower room
keep hitting my head on them which is not good as they are sticky buds lol

hi mate

odd one in a pack of seeds, not sure the strain but flower in 8 weeks and only needs a short veg time
triples its height in flower but i did veg for 6 weeks and lst under a 125 eviro light for that time

at first i thought it was a very good plant but i am trying it in hydro and and flowered at 6", from a cutting 3 weeks to root and now it 6 ft tall and 3ft wide

run out of space the plant is touching the light at 3 weeks in flower, but it ok as i have air cool hood with a 8" pulling the heat through the air cooled hood and a oscillating fan blowing the top of the canopy to stop it burning 2" off a 600w hps :o

back to the plants in soil
i topped the plant early in veg, 5th node and pulled the breaches down and topped again 2 weeks later and pulled the sides down and removed all the lower nodes a week before flower

let the plant grow till week 3 and used bamboo round the plant pot to pull the main buds out in a circle 3ft across, so i could drop the light a lot
the light was so low, the top of the bud was just getting some light and most the light was aimed at the middle of the buds round the pot and some bud lower down in the middle of the plant

this work so well, if i keep the temps down and if i improve this i could have a lot higher yeild and the thing is, it was easy to grow like this :):)

i ph the water at 6.7 and kept the ec at 1.2 (bio bizz grow and bloom) and watered every 2 days

yep not bad .. specialy not for a fist time indoor .. and with all that knowlegs I now have Im sure the next run (I just started with some LSD seed) will run even better ..

I did consider hydro/DWG at one point but did choose the organic soil mix insted .. lets see how this work (30% coco in the mix aswell)
