Greetings all. I am glad to have found this site, I am a freshly legal mm patient looking to learn how to grow for myself. I appreciate all's comments, and thanks for the all the valuable info, I am going to need it!
What size growing cabinet do most prefer (if you use a cabinet)
Is there a height preference?

It is all up to you really, there are lots of different ways to grow, you have to pick/find what works for you and your situation/limitations

best advice is to read the stickies here and then find threads to read of folks growin the way you think you want to

how many plants are wanting to grow? when u veg a plant the height it has achieved can double and even treble when u put it to flower. if ur totally new to growing i would suggest u grow in soil, the yeild is less and it takes a bit more time but its easier, cheaper and a helluva lot more forgiving if u screw things up. i use a grow tent, u can buy the whole package with lights,timer, fans, extractor fan and carbon filter. its 4' x 4' x 6.5 and will grow 5 decent sized plants( hopeing to get 3 or 4 oz per plant.) i grow under 1000watts and thats probably the max in an area of that size. try ebay for grow tents( and all the rest of the stuff u may need). best of luck buddy.

Welcome to the RIU.....pretty much all you will need to know is here on the forums.....I also became a mm patient and simply decided to grow my own to control availability of a KNOWN quality....it's a trip to actually be able to grow the best therapy known........ I am into growing autos which are fast and easy.....most are under 24" tall and produce small but potent yeilds....great for a grower/user....

I might grow up to 12 total, how many partitions should it have for differently lighted sections?

Thanks Oldreefer, thats my intention to control quality which determines quanity needed. Having the ability to regulate these is a great starting point for me.

is it a perpetual harvest ur aiming for? if ur gaunna grow a lot ur gaunna need a flowering area around twice the size or vegging. u can get a lot of plants vegging together as there not going to grow massively but when u put them into 12/12 flowering they WILL take off. what size of an area do u have in mind to use? is smell gaunna be an issue? how much are u looking to spend on ur set up?if its twelve full sized plant( i dont know anything about autoflowers), then ur gaun need 6' x 6 ' 6' to allow them room to bush out if growing the way i do( standard organic, i just let them grow) but u can reduce size if ur doing scrog, or lst or topping or lollypopping.. maybe best to start with 5 or 6 on a basic organic first grow, this is a manageable amount and what u'll pick up in that 3 or 4 months will teach u a helluva lot and when ur growing u can just sit in here and read of alternative ways. the alternatives are enormous and it can screw ur head up at times!!

I am weighing the 12 at once issue, and thinking maybe a few at each stage for continuous availability might not be bad either.
The more I read the more derivatives of options open up, which does add to my newbe confusions. lol
If I keep a mother and clone her, how many partitioned areas would I need?

I might be able to get away with a 6' x 6' x 4' in the area of preference.
