Newb 32 days into flower, how do things look?

Hi Everyone,

I am a newb and I received 6 purple kush clones on March 13th and vegged them 24hr lights on in 2 gallon pots of mushroom compost, steer manure, osh potting mix,with some bone and blood meal for like 10 weeks in a 2 1/2 by 2 1/2 by 5ft grow tent with a 430 hps and simple fan. They grew well but crowding was an issue so I kept 1 in that small tent with some cfls to keep as a mother (which I need to pot up) I also have 4 unknown seedlings 2 of which have sexed as female.I'm still waiting on the other 2 to sex. I sorta burned one with the cfls and need to manage the heat in there better too. The other 5 plants now about 3ft tall went to flower on May 16th 12/12 in a larger grow tent 4 1/2 by 4 1/2 by 7 ft with the same 430 HPS.
They have tons of white hairs and I rotate their position and turn 1/4 clockwise once a day so they will get even light. How do they look for their stage to you? I need to take a picture with out the HPS on. the second picture looks real bad under that lighting. Plant does not really look that sick at all. I pH the water at around 6.4-6.6 and have been feeding them Atlas fish 5-1-1 1ml and Alaska fish More Bloom 0-10-10 3ml, and 1 1/2 tbsp molasses 1/2 tsp epsom salt per gallon per watering with a side dressing of bat guano 0-10-2 and steer manure every 2-3 weeks. I read that potassium is more important than phosphorus at this stage of flowering and that phosphorus will make for a harsh burn on your throat too. Does any one know of a good potassium based fertilizer that is low in phosphorus and nitrogen (I prefer to steer clear of lines of products) I like to make my own fertilizer mixes, its cheaper and I think worth the effort in learning? bongsmilie

switch your light to a 1000 watt hps if you'd like to get a decent pull from your set up.. with some decent lumens those suckers would blow the fu#$@ up!!! looking kind of small for 32 days..

Yeah I was reading about the lumes and that seemed the way to go with a 1000hps. It will probably be at least 2 weeks before I can get my hands on one.

I dont agree with anything you said.

The dude has a 430w HPS, it should be absolutely fine for the space he has. Also it seems as if he has problems with heat, if you stick a 1000w light in there the place will be to hot I think.

Also those plants are not small for 32 days flowering. The size of the plant is determined by how long you veg the plant for. It is now flowering so if he wanted them bigger he could veg for longer.

I think you have done a good job. Maybe try and improve ventilation with a extra fan, try and do a cool tube setup for your light if you have the bucks. Anything really to cool your box will help your plants be healthier. But I would say overall you have done a decent job. It will just get better from here.

Another tip;

You seem to have good idea's on nutes.

I would just say try not to over complicate the nutes for yourself. I once read a tip on this forum and it is simply that weed is a plant, it is a plant like any other. as long as it gets a balance of nutriants and not to much it will grow well. I use only general plant food that is water soluble. Nutes does not have to be expensive or allot to make the plant grow well.

It is far easier to kill a plant by giving to much nutes than it is by giving it to little.

I did a quick search and looked for the pH twist and found that it can be caused by a rising pH, is this what you are referring to iscrog4food? That is also the plant that grew into the CFL overnight. It caused those burnt edges of the upper most fan leaves.

Lol, tell me about it. I was doing some experimenting with a couple of different fertilizers from MG to Schultz to the organic stuff and burned them , then flushed them then that must have induced a nute def. These ladys have been through it and back. But the good thing about it all is I found what works for me. I feed them about 1/4 to a max of 1/2 strength nutes. When I water I give the nutes every time since I've been using 1/4 strength. The Guano I just started to use for the phosphorus in flowering and now I'm wondering if too much phosphorus a bad thing.

Looking good man. Especially for a first timer. Just make sure and keep it going because when those buds start popping, your going to want to pick and pick. Just reframe yourself better than I did and you will have a good yield. lol
