new vertical hydro system

hello whats up everyone.
well, I intended to start of with a soil grow for my first time but i came across this and i could not pass it up :hump:. anyway, its a system made by octagon hydroponics it has 63 plant sites it came with 3 1000 watt hps ballasts and the bulbs, plust the veritube. it came with all the pumps, hoses, nutes, timers, fans, carbon filter and meters.. i actually found it on craigslist and traded it for a 91 Mazda miata with tranny problems. does anyone have any experience with a system like this? any info would be appreciated. I was thinking of having a few mother plants and cloning those mothers and as soon as i put the clones in the system i would start the flowwering phase. on their web site it claims the plants can grow up to 2-3 feet which i believe because the system is about 8 ft tall. its a flood and drain system with one res for the first 2 levels and a second res for the top level. i look forward to using this system now that me and my GF both got out MMJ cards for the state of california :-D

It's a cool setup, just wondering where you'll put it. If it's 8' tall without plants then it would be 10-11ft tall with plants on the top level? That is going to need a seriously tall insulated room with heat and A/C.

well, the actual pvc ring (top level) is only about 6 ft tall but what i meant by 8 ft tall is the vertitube in the middle is about 8 ft tall when it is in operation. I was thinking of just building a grow tent out of 1" pvc and panda film.

yea it seems like it would get really hot with the 3 1000 watt hps lights. I have the can fan that runs air thru the light tube. Do you think that would be enough? amny advice on controlling the temps inside the grow tent i will be building??

Wow. That looks like it could be a lot of fun. I'm sure it will take a couple grows with one strain to dial it in. good luck

tricky part will be getting enough clones to root simultaneously. i suggest you take very good care of moms then cut like 120 clones, chose the best rooters and ditch the others, and get the max out of it. the setup is awesome!

I have a "similar" system that I made myself, and also have a Vertitube (mine has 4 600s though, not 3 1Ks).

Bob those clones don't look too healthy mate lol. Did they end up surviving?
Lol.........probably should've explained that - those were clones I put in there for a couple of days just to make sure the system worked, then I let them die because I went to Europe for two weeks and didn't want to leave a brand new system unattended for that long.
