New Veg/Clone Build

Old dresser piece converted to appear in storage, standing tall ways with 3 shelves standing 22", 27", and 22"'s tall. 18 inches deep and 15 inches wide the way it will open. planning to run it for clones and vegging, want to go with cfl sturdy fixtures.. but I can only fit two per shelf, maybe three if they're really sardined.

Afterthoughts, why not use the bottom 22" shelf for veg and cut the upper partition out to create a 49"= 4'1" tall space; with 18 inches depth and 15 inches width.

~What kind of bulbs would su
ccessfully occupy the 22"h 15"w 18"d space?, and my major concern is: is a 400w hm/hps safe in the wooden, insulated space 4'1"h 18"d 15" w. Basically hoping the hood(reflector) and air cooling tube fit the 18" by 15" space. do people put hps in small spaces like this? are there smaller compact hps bulbs?

Just run small wattage CFL bulbs in an area that small, get standard sockets from the hardware store and piggyback four in the veg area and one or two in the cloneing area.
And as far as running HPS, that is for flowering, you would want Mh for vegging. But that small of an area even with sealed hood air cooling, heat would be a definate issue...
Good Luck, Looks like a great project...

the 400w should be fine heat wise with the cooled hood and a remote ballast. i would make sure to get a high output spectrally enhanced hps bulb. they only cost a bit more than the normal 400w bulbs and are w/o a doubt worth getting imo. its all i use for both stages(i realize the part that it is better than anything else for vegging doesnt really matter as you've got plans for vegging in a seperate smaller area). Also, make sure the cooltube you choose will fit the space width wise. im kind of torn on if its overkill and you should just use a 250w hps or if the 400w's superior penetration into the canopy is worth using it compared to the 250w.

yeah i was thinking about a 250 with complimentary lighting. then there was choosing between some cfls or flouro tubes vertically. so it seems less complex to just grab a 400w and concentrate on the cooling. but another thing thats killing me is finding my fav bud in the seedbanks' ridiculously hyped up, market swamped, repetitive lists. seriously where is the "original blueberry" sticky, danky dark green/blue, hairy, or "Christmas trees", the dark green, skunky n pine-ee stuff. grrrr.
thanks

nice, i never had the opportunity to play with one, Im sure I'll love it. my only question to you is would i need 3 sets of bulbs or just roll with a set of 400w bulbs pushing out 200w and so forth? im sure thats what you would do.. but it doesnt hurt to clarify
Thnkas again! +rep
