New to using a tent

I'm not so much of a newbie grower and by that I mean I've been growing for about a year and a half with cfls in my bathtub in smart pots with pretty good results. Now however, I am now going to be purchasing a tent and a 400 watt hps. My tent is 36x36x72 and I just want a simple inline fan hook up for dummies step by step set of instructions. I know the inline fan goes in the tent, right? It's the ducting I'm confused on. Just where and how the hell does it go. Can I just vent the heat out of the tent into the room it's set up in? I know there are 100's of posts on this subject but I've yet to find one I can comprehend. I'm not stupid I just have a hard time visualizing things so please no complex drawings or diagrams, just abc type instructions.
Thank you all in advance for assisting me to be a better grower.

Thank you most helpful but I'm not using a filter so I'm assuming the ducting gets connected to the reflector hood?

The ducting can be attached to the ceiling of the tent (heat rises) if your not using a air cooled hood.

Wouldn't be a bad idea to throw a filter on your set up. I've never said to myself "man, I wish my house smelt more"

Hey I got a grow tent kit that came with a 6" inline fan for exhaust. It goes at the top of the tent in one of the vent holes that's there. However, that was not enough to keep the inside temp below 100 degrees with the tent closed...I ended up leaving the tent open at the bottom and just using a house fan to blow air in. With an AC running (it was summer) it kept the tent temp to 80-85. Now that it's getting colder out, I'll soon be able to just open a window to keep the room cold enough.

Here's a link to my grow tent i explain my venting system and how the ducting works. I know how it is trying to find detailed instructions on how to do stuff but if you start at 1:51 that's when i talk about the ducting. Also there is plenty of youtube videos of people setting up ducting just gotta type in "grow tent ducting". hope this helps!!

Didn't mean to come off like that. I also don't know what strains your growing, some smellier than others, but that stronger light will most likely produce some more buds and smell is definitely something ever grower should worry about. scrubbing the air is usually a good practice, plus it will help quite down the fan noise. Something to put in the back of your mind for later down the road
