Hello all I'm New to this RDWC side of things but here is my setup a 5x5x 6/5 with 600 watt led . 4 bucket (8 gal.) with reservoir (15 gal.) outside the tent . 400 gal per hour external pump , My basement temps will be running around 62f during the winter Tent temps expected with lights on During veg around 70 Flower will be around 78 air temp. I know this might be hard to answer but do you think I would need a small chiller with those temps ?

I'm hoping some of the experienced hydro growers will chime in and give me some thoughts on this , thanks all for any input om this subject.

I grow in my basement as well. I bought a chiller just for peace of mind. Give it a go without a chiller and see how it goes

I'm in the basement as well and never used one. I was worried at first because the temps were a bit hot but all has been good this far.

You get it dialed in right with a decent size system you don't even gotta do rez changes. I would change once in veg and once after flower stretch and that's it

Hell if my temps we that low I definitely would feel safe with out a chiller. Mine were in 90s rez temp high 80s lol.

I ran 25 gallons. I was running individual 5 gallon buckets but they only had 3 gallons max in them and was always chasing ph. After I built my 25 gal system it was much more stable
I'm running a 40 gallon system 5 8gallon bucket. I can't control the ph drop at all. In 12 hours it will go from ph 5.8 to 4.4. I've brought my ppms from 400 all the way to 900. I have a blue lab controller but I try not to use it.

That's interesting, idk if I've had ph drop. It always seem to rise.

Dropping pH is often a sign your system has a bacterial colonization and you have to clean everything.
