New to Hydro

Sounds like u got it dialed in.
I started mine on 12/12 yesterday. They are drinking about 5 gallons a day. I also upped my ppm to 1240. Will have to see how they handle the load. In veg they were up to 1300 ppm.
r u using the same type of aero/nft system as i do? I no its only been a couple weeks since i starrted this but so far its been runnin smoothly. I have never got 13 out of 16 clones to root in soil with this strain. i was lucky to get half to grow and it took 3 weeks. i think the key to starting hydro is adding small amounts of things till u get to no exactly what ur strain likes best. i'm keeping notes of what and how much and when i add things to the rez. good luck with ur flowers orzz.

No I am using ebb & flood in RW.

I agree ... start with lite nutes and learn what they can handle and what they need.
Thanks and good luck to you also.

lookin good man very nice setup
thanks zoink29.

i've noticed the new growth is yellow. looks like nute deffiency to me. been adding nutes slowly every day. ppm is now 325. ph holding steady at 5.8. i'm afraid to add too much. how high should i go?:?

I am flowering now and the ppm is 1100 and they are drinking it up. I have to add 10 gallons of water every 2 days to the rez.
It also depends on strain and how much they have been getting.
I would bump yours up a little and see what happens.
good luck

i raised ppm to 400 this morn. Just checked StinkBuds thread. he starts at 1500 ppm after 3wks. from cutting, then 2000 ppm from wk 4 till harvest. don't think i'll go near that far but i'm gonna raise it to 600ppm tonight or not or should i go higher. i'm so confused. i think i will let at 400 a day or 2 and c wat happens. but the new leaves r still yellow. here's some pics.

NEED FOOD?

ROOTS LOOK HEALTHY?

raised to 585 ppm. the nutes i'm using allready have mag and cal in them. i don't think i should add more? i am using AN Sensi Grow 2 part. it's a stand alone nute specifically formulated 4 MJ. the back reads like 600 ppm is where to start and 800 to 2000 is aggressive feeding. i really like that it doesn't change my ph at all. i could be wrong but i bought Sensi thinking that's all i would need since it was designed 4 MJ. peace

i'm glad u think so cause this is all new to me.:?
You are doing just fine. You read, ask questions and care for your plants. The main thing that I have learned is that it is HS Biology all over again. Taking temp and humidity readings, keeping notes, comparing notes .... I think that is what happened in class, I wasn't there. But it is important to what what the strain does in YOUR specific environment. Even strains from different vendors vary. It is all about seeing what works with your style.

Well, someone please correct me if I am wrong, BUT... As far as I know, once a cutting has rooted, it is ready for like 900ppm strength nutes.

The theory behind this is that a clone is essentially the same age as its mother, therefore it is mature enough, once it roots, to take on full nutes.

I have about a 3 week old clone right now that is yellowing at tips and other places and its because I had the ppm at about 500 for a while and its just been begging me for more.

I am myself not super experienced, but this has been my experience so far.

Hope it helps :peace:

:hug:thanks 4 the info stinkyleaf. i have never read that b4, but it makes alot of sense. they did seem 2 look better the more nutes i add. i never thought abiut the maturity level. i was thinking that a small root system couldn't handle a big load, but i think ur right. my clones look better now that the ppm is around 750. stinkbud starts his at 1500ppm after 3 wks. in the cloner. think i'll take 'em up to 900 2moro. thanks again stinkyleaf.

ok i worked all weekend and the last couple nights on my flower set up. it's actually 2 seperate system in the same room. each system has 14 plant sites and my cloner has 16 plant sites. i plan on taking the best 14 plants from my cloner and moving them to the 1st flower system. then start more clones and in 5 wks. move them to the 2nd flower system. it takes the strain i'm growing 10 wks. to mature. so i will b able to harvest 14 plants every 5 wks. my space isn't very tall so i think this will work out well. i was hoping that my clones would grow enough in 5 wks. to be able 2 take new clones from them so i don't have 2 keep a mother. i'm not sure that they will grow enough but i hope cause i don't have much spce 4 a mother plant.
her's the pics i promised.

this is my frame which is made of 1/2 in. pvc pipe and the 4" tubes.

this is what it look like now. the first system is done but lowes didn't have enough 1/4" compression tees to connect the main water line 2 the 1/4" tubing so i couldn't finish it. that's ok cause i won't need it for 5 or 6 wks. yet.

i extended the frame above the tubes 4 supports when my buds get 2 heavy 2 support themselves. this idea came from stinkbud.

Dude this is seriously awesome! Did you change from the posts to the pipes for the root system for a particular reason? Or was it just hard to find posts lol.

A thing I see that could be a potential problem (keep in mind I've never grown, I've just been reading up on it in preparation. So I might be full of it) is that it looks like algae could form around the drain area. In StinkBuds he had the cap on the end and cut off a small bit to drain out. I'm assuming this kept most of the light out and away from the nutes.

thanks dude. i don't think it makes much difference if u use pipes or posts so i picked pipe cause it was cheaper.

i do have end caps with 3/4" holes drilled in them 4 drainage. they do help block the light, but i take them off alot so i can see what's goin on in there. some of my system is based on stinkbuds but i got ideas from alot of different places. u should think about trying hydro, it is fun and interesting.:peace:
