New Start, Perpetual DWC.... 1st in line white widow

already got it in there. nyc diesel. its a reg seed so not sure what its gonna be. straight 12/12 though. im just waiting for a few bits ive ordered to turn up. im gonna make a small veg area so i can manage things a bit better. im amazed by the rootball. its about the size of an american football. the stem on the white widow is rock solid as well. couldnt bend that even if i wanted to. about 2cm thick. once i get the veg area up and running i may even re veg the nyc diesel if its a girl. if not im gonna get my purple haze fem seed into rockwool in about 4 weeks time as i want to veg it for 5-6 weeks before i flower. well i say purple. i may even go with the amnesia. im also tempted to try another ak47 auto in the dwc bubbler. i have so many nice strains i wanna grow. missus hasnt given any stick lately so im trying to gradually increase the size of my grow lol

ok well i took some clones off of this white widow. gonna stic them inside the pc case i built under a 65w 6500 cfl. i know someone who will take them off my hands if the do take cos i wont have spce for them. will chuck a pic up in a bit once i have it set up

Q:whats the best nutrients for sativa plant in a standard 5.gallon bucket DWC System?

im no expert with dwc, infact this is my first go.

ill try to answer to the best of my ability.

Q1, personally after doing lots of research i went with the lucas formula. that is the genreral hydroponics flora range. i use micro and bloom. no grow as there is planty of N in the micro bottle. im having great results so far. a lot of people use the advanced nutrients range. but it can get quite expensive. i went for this way because its cheap and not too much to remember. 8ml micro per gallon and 16ml bloom per gallon. because im british and work in litres. im using 15ltr of water from the tap. no ph'ing although i wouldnt recommend it. and because i have hard water i bought the hard water version of the nutrient. and i use 30ml micro and 60ml bloom for 15ltrs of water. ppm comes out at 1050 using that formula and my plant seems to love it but others will not like so much.


Q2, i have no experience with such huge lights and im still on my first HID grow. just choose your strain carefully as you have one space that is 5x5x8 i would use that for flowering and the 4x4x7 for veg. when growing it comes down to personal preference and taste, especially when your using to medicate. remember that most plants will double or triple in size during flower. most people with limited space go to about 12" before they switch to flower. if your planning on doing lst or topping then it makes it a whole different matter. you will need to veg a bit longer to help the plant recover to its full potential. personally if i could grow the way your planning i would top each plant until it has about 8 tops. because your using 1kw each side you will have no problems pulling 1/2lb+ of each plant, your probably looking between 6-10 weeks veg in dwc. make sure you have plenty of oxygen. i have one of my buckets on a dimmer to help with noise levels and when i have it full whack i get about 1-2" growth during veg a day but when i for get it hardly grows 1/2". the more the merrier when it comes to bubbles.

well after going through 6 pages i found my grow

heres a couple pics to keep people coming


she is starting to flower properly now, nice to see so many bud sites. i also trimmed the bottom 4 nodes as they are the ones i took the cuttings from and they were very shaded by the fan leaves so i chopped em. gives me a decent handle to hold onto when i wanna move the plant as well.

and im not sure if i mentioned it earlier in the thread but i got my self a proper reflector. a lumii mini. perfect size for my cupboard.



also ive just found a 40cmx40cmx120cm tent for £45. gonna buy myself 2 of them as they are perfect size to hide in my walking wardrobe without taking up too much spoace then i can have completely seperate veg and flowering areas

cant wait. gotta pay my cc of this month but will probably invest next month

tell me about it fella. im struggling with temps at the minute as the lovely english weather cant make its bloody mind up. i should hopefully be buying a house next year so i can get out of this flat. once i have my own garden its on, the missus already knows im gonna need a workspace and ive told her im gonna buy a flatpack building to have at the foot of the garden but in the meantime any opinions on my white widow?

well i know i shouldnt have but ive added a supplemental cfl. a 65w 2700k should help with the diesel as well as (she) is a slow grower

get a inline extractor fan breathn fresh air in there it will help u loads. iv grew WW before and sum other white strains and im finshed with them. more of a kush, amnesia kind guy at the min lol keep up the good work. ilm follow this

i cant use an inline fan. too noisy. me n the missus are on a knifes edge with me doing this atm. i have to work the noise around her sleeping pattern. if i get an inline fan it might notify the neighbours as im in a block of flats.

ive never met a dealer that had any nice kush which kinda put me off it a bit. im more of a cheese, amnesia, haze kinda guy but these WW seeds came from a bag of dank so i thought why not try dwc on them before i stick my money in the water so to speak.

i have a nice lineup of fem seeds as well. WOS amnesia, big bud #1, purple haze, ak48, ak47 autos, bubblegum, some random fruity smelling bagseed, and i have some master kush as well which were freebies from my first order of ak47 autos. ive got some SAGE and a few others i cant remember without looking in my tub

ok well just a small update. i will post some pics later. flowers are starting to form nicely on all the branches now. the stretch has stopped. she hasnt grown much vertically for the last few days. i cant belive im not even 2 weeks in and she is flowering so well already. dwc is the way forward.

reason i posted is i think there might be a slight N def coming along. the tips on some of the leaves are just starting to go slightly yellow. should i worry about this as my ppm levels are around 1250 atm they rise daily to about 1500 but ive just been topping up with plain water to lower them again. i know its too early in flowering to be losing N i was just wondering if i should up my dosage a bit??? im using GH flora micro & bloom and i think the micro is just N so i can add little of that if need be....

I'm personally a fan of upping the dosage until they start burning, but I run organics so that may not be the best idea for you. Feed based on what the plants tell you. If you think they need a little more N add a little more N. Don't worry about "it's too early into flowering". All plants are different, even the same strain. tl;dr I would go for it.

While you're taking some pics be sure to take a root mass pic. That's the one thing I like about dwc, that you can see the roots lol.

ok mate. the decent camera has gone out with my missus for the day. ill take some pics on my phone but not sure how good they will be.

xok well heres some pics as promised..... first 2 are my flowering girl she smells soooooo fruity when you brush up agaisnt her. next 3 are some root porn as per request. and the last is my NYCD mystery still no sex and it is almost at node 7. although from what i know diesel is an almost pure sativa strain and this is very much looking indica with fat leaves. must have some afghan in the nyc strain. comments and opinions welcome.

ppm today was at 1650 dropped it down to 1350 to help keep it balanced but its not looking like she is a heavy feeder. seems to be drinking water not nutes. need to do a res change next week as more and more little roots are falling off in to the bucket. obviously i dont want to be getting root rot. ill die lol. she is really starting to flower nicely now though. about 10/12 days into flower now. been about 2 weeks since the 12/12 flip. really looking forward to harvest time already.

i have had to raise my light by another 2" today as well because even with extraction running full and a desk fan blowing full power at the lights im still seeing some heat stress at the highest few tops. not much morei can do now as the light is at maximum height.

to be honest it has worked out quite well buying that chain to hold the reflector up as ive fixed 2 hooks into the back wall and im wrapping them around the hangar bar (its a wardrobe im using). but each time i wrap it around it shortens by exactly 2" whch is great for when you wanna raise the light gradually.

Dude those are massive roots, very nice. What temps are you looking at? You thought about getting a cool tube? I heard those work great for HID growers.
