I have an white widow x og kush 15 days from seed breaking soil. Im trying this cheap pot i found in a dollar store $3. The plant loves the pot... I have NOT WATERED THE PLANT FROM FROM TOP TODATE.....It holds about 3 1/2 cups of water in the res. I added an airstone (see pic) in the bottom of pot. I tested the soil finger 3 inches down NOT SOAKED, BUT MOIST....ROOTS EVERYWHERE...... Plant has 8 nodes ,not counting first two nodes since they dont produce much. I just switch from 250 watt cfl to 400watt hps. first nute feed 5 days ago. as the res drys out wich is every other day. ive been going feed, reg water, super thrive an molasses, ect.ect. I also have three auto purple kush going in reg pots there 9 days older but she on there ass!!!!! I think its the airstone....Any tips or Idea's im all open. Its working great. has anyone tryed these before???

Yes they work but one can not flush the excessive salts in the long haul if bottom feeding only , and as well I have never seen any larger than a 3 gallon . I used them for some plants in veg on an extended vacation and all was fine upon arrival .
I now use the self watering pots for houseplants .

If you want a real hydro/soil setup use a dwc bucket and fill the net with a layer of coco then the rest soil.

I completely made that up off the top of my head. I've never seen anyone actually do it but I don't see why it wouldn't work as with a DWC water isn't constantly flowing over the top net, just moving in the res with an airstone.

Instead of hydroton(clay pebbles) in the net do as I said in my previous post. I've thought about trying something similar but never got the will to actually do it. Waterfarm works just fine for me right now.

Funny thing is , I have one of those sitting in the closet , I tried an failed an auto purple kush. went to shit before it started....lol but the pot im using now holds more dirt an for now only has lil root tips pointing thru the bottom.... thats why im doing my water an feedings like i am. but that wood cut down my time watering her.... I love spending the time with her so its good..... Ill try it an let you know how it goes. I have about 130 green crack seeds so ill try one of those....Thanks will keep you posted on how it goes from start to end.....
