Just a proud first timer, anyone have advice for using molasses, I stopped fert. about three days ago,
Hi!, Just stopped in to say nice plant! Try a tablespoon of molasses in a gallon of water, every other watering till they're finished. Don't forget to let the top half of the root ball dry out a bit. They flower hard when they feel a drought coming on in the roots. Too much water reduces size and potency. Similarly, If you over do it with the molasses you end up encouraging too much micro-biologic activity (meaning harmful fungus & molds). You really just want to feed the soil organisms a bit and sweeten the taste of your buds. Go easy.

I use one tablespoon/gallon water up until three weeks before harvest. You don't have any yellow leaves yet, so I'd give it at least one watering with the molasses solution to make the microbes that assist the roots happy.

Molasses does not add a sweet taste to your buds.
Sorry to differ but I disagree...Using it sparingly all the way to the finish has made my buds taste slightly sweet at the end.
If folks use pure water to flush the plants at the end of the flower cycle they may be flushing out the sugar. Happy Gardening! GrowIT!:weed:

Get a brix meter and study plant sugars. Sugars increase with molasses.
"Molasses, honey, and other sugars are said to increase soil microbials, enhance regrowth, and make the plant's use of
nitrogen more effective. Molasses will raise the energy level of the plant and acts as a mild natural fungicide. Molasses
is the 'secret ingredient' in many organic fertilizers."

I've used molasses for a few years, not just with weed, but couldn't tell any taste difference with or without. Your mileage may differ.

No doubt it's all in my mind about the sweeter taste but I won't complain about the illusion!

I agree, and have seen that enhanced plant health is possible by using a sugar, molasses, etc. to 'feed' soil microbes that in turn will help release nutrients etc. ala Jerry Baker eh?
And similarly, it has been shown that increased plant health is directly related to the sugar content of the plants cells. Now mind you, I'm not saying molasses sugar goes directly to the plant to sweeten it, I'm only saying plant sugars increase with molasses use. Seemingly resulting in a sweeter smoke...again my illusion but a nice one....Happy Gardening! GrowIT!:weed:

The sweet smoke you taste is just in the genetic make-up of the bud. As well as your mind insisting upon the idea that molasses turned it sweeter, the illusion is hard to break through. Sugar, in terms of plants, is a food. It doesn't fill the buds with sugar, Or in essence, the kind of sugar you are thinking of.
