New lights for veg tent, LED or t5?

I'm gonna buy a new 2x4' tent strictly for veg.

Normally I'd go with a 400w MH, but I want to keep electricity a little lower and reduce heat.

So, I think DIY or COB LEDs are out of the question for now, due to price. I see Mars hydro as the biggest seller on amazon and ebay... but I've read seen some very negative reviews mixed with very good ones, leaving me puzzled as to if these panels are a scam or not.

Any ideas on what I should do here?

t5 or t8 LED tubes.
Yep, got a tent with a blurple and LED tubes as side lights (18 watts each x 4) works! and cheap
Love QB's too, gonna get one soon
fuck suncloak, I suncloaked my tent with $30 of T8 LED tube replacements. jk... but not really :-)

If it were me I'd go CMH 315watts. Low heat for HID. The plants stay short longer and nodes are closer! Might cost a bit more than the choices mentioned here. Bulbs last years!

SunCloak Horizons. I own 3 in veg. If I could upload pics you'd be amazed. Peep them on my SunCloak thread.
Outperforms my 440w T-5 by far at only 100w & allows airflow through the top.
Just air circulation above the plants made a big difference.
6K spectrum is perfect & they penetrate well. I'm vegging huge plants w/ them.
Can't beat them IMO.
Come check em out. Once you try one you'll never use Floros again. Ever.
I own them in 4k & 24k in the mail for flower too.

Damn, I wish pictures worked on this site so I could see your grows...

What exactly is a suncloack? A diy led or something? I don't know a thing about electronics or building my own.

And just to clarify, do you need 3 to beat out the t5, or do you mean 1 unit with beat out an 8 bulb t5?

I taught this was about Amare. You are screwed man. No matter what you use and how succesful you grow you gonna have haters... that's for sure.
It's mostly the same couple guys that follow me around. No biggie. They mostly spew anything they can to contradict whatever it is I say. Funny really!

Zep Lover posted you the link to the Horizons above.
SinCloak makes them. They also make vertical led systems in which I use w/ incredible success.
Last run I got 2# from a 32"x4' space using only 600 w.
This time I'm looking closer to 6-7#'s using 1500 SunCloak watts.
Building one wouldn't be easy.
1 Horizon using 100w will beat or equal a 8 bulb T-5. I say beat based on performance & par #'s.

Wow those are some good numbers.

Im liking this horizon fixture, but do you have any experience with their customer support and warranties?

The unit seems great, and cheaper than 315w lec. I think that might be the winner. Thanks man

Yes i do. I own 2, 3 bay vertical systems & 6 Horizons w/ 2 more in the mail.
I deal direct w/ the owner (Doug) as you probably would to. He's a stand-up guy who's biggest concern is that we're happy.
Great support, warranty & service.

I don't use my MH or T-5's anymore because I use Horizons.
I honestly doubt a more efficient system exists.
Diodes are custom & ran @ 20% their capacity. They also have a thin silicone layer over the diodes, allowing for foliar feeding or preventative spraying.
Good luck! Lmk how you make out!

If you can say that with a straight face I can get you 8 weeks at the Comedy Club!
Why are you n the hate posse so negative to me?
Those were Dougs exact words to me when I bitched about my 27k verts looking 4k. He said he'll take them back if I'm not happy & that was his biggest concern.
Then he proceeded to show me the CCT of my lights on his passport Meter. 29.5K because the silicone layer adds blue to the spectrum.
I have never lied to anyone here & always share my experiences as they are.
So please, save the insults for someone who deserves them.
