Hey everybody, this is my first grow and things were going well for a while until the leaves on my plant were starting to droop and the larger fan leaves started to get brown spots on them. Also the newer stems are very purple...not sure if good or bad. I am using miracle grow potting mix (nothing better availabe) and miracle grow all purpose nutes. Any ideas on the problem?

it could be a lot of things nutes, soil, overwatering, heatstress, put up a picture, is the best way to diagnose your problem

miracle grow soil and miracle grow fertilizer dont go well together because they are both loader with nuts...however it can be done...and if thats the case with your plant its def. overdosed with nuts...you need to stop giving it nuts period and only water until the plant looks better...with miracle gro ferti. you need to add alot less than wut u are adding..you need to add very little to ur plant with water every 3 watering

Yeah from what i've heard miracle grow isnt that great, the only thing that puzzles me is that i went for a month without adding nutes and the plant looked great and before i added anything the browning and drooping started...then when i did add nutes (very low dose) the plant stayed the same or got a little worse.

the combination of the two might have been a bit to much for your young plants. Id flush the soil and let them dry almost completely before feeding again. If your going to continue to use that brand for food, go below the recommended amount for feeding. Its better to under than over feed them. "Experts say, the purpling of the stems are the signs of lock out." If nothing else is available within your local area a simple google of the words "Hydroponics" and "your zip code" should give you a location close to your city. If no results are found you might want to consider ordering from offline and having it delivered to your front door.
I only say this because I have had many problems with "MG" products. Take a look at this link you can find all that you need

and im not saying that you have to order from the site i gave above but it will help you to know what your looking for if your deal shopping on line. Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil, Grow Big(nutrients), Tiger Bloom(nutrients) and Big Bloom(nutrients) is really all you need and you will do great.

I went form using Miracle Grow only to using Fox Farm ocean forest and havent had really any problems. Gnats have disappeared and the plants are growing faster and stronger.
