New Grower - Day 74 - Need second opinion

Hi All, first off thanks for taking a peek as I know this simply "not another when to harvest post" but this is my first grow and I really don't want any of that hay trash ha.

That said, I have two different strains that started as clones:
Berry Bomb OG and a Blueberry crossed with some sorta cookie strain (friends outdoor homegrown blueberry got pollinated by another strain and had some seeds)

Details:
2x4x5 tent with temps between 78/67 degrees, RH between 60-50
Have two 600w (each 200W really) blurple LED's that I found dirt cheap, not the best but they're working for now.
6" exhaust running for 10minutes every other 20minutes throughout the light hours, then 15 minutes once every hour overnight
4" inlet fan running 24/7 at the bottom of the tent with a 4" tent clip fan running 24/7 at the canopy
They both were vegged for 3 weeks after I got them just after rooting, then flipped both to 12/12 on 12/31.
Transplanted into 3gal fabric pots, dirt as my soil, and using fox farms trio for nutes.

Early flower had some cal/mag issues, then PH issues but got a good handle on both those after a week or so.
Basically my issue is, around the end of week8 I thought these were done. No new pistils, no more growth, super dense and fat as hell.
After reading a ton and looking at pretty much every other harvest post, I thought to myself okay, give it two more weeks cause thats science, right ;)

Anyways, all of a sudden (not a single change in schedule or nutes or anything) tail end of week 10 up till now, all of a sudden white pistils.
Got me nervous about foxtailing and are these ready.. yada yada.. but long story short. First grow, dont own a jewelers loupe yet, but whats going on here?!

Ready to harvest this weekend or???

Oh and please disregard my disgusting floor in my tent as one of my clones tipped while watering.

Apex of flowers often throw pistil growth from grow lights. Its just hard to judge the “ overall “ maturity under those lights -

But to me a couple of weeks to go … but know plants finish when they finish regardless of calendar date.

To me its what kind of medicine you want, the longer they go the deeper the “relief”. For drying i recommend weighing a couple nice buds everyday and jar/burp when they stop losing weight. Nice first grow btw, ‘bout a pound:cool:

Firstly, I am also pretty new at this. But I have done a bunch of homework, and am right around the same point in my grow as you. Your ladies look really nice.

Not sure what kind of phone (camera) you have, but try holding it somewhere near 6" from a flower (or small part of the edge of one) and zoom in to about 10X if your camera can. Let the camera auto focus until you get a clear view, hold as steady as you can and get a bunch of pics. Some of them should be clear enough to really see your trichs well. I have noticed that shots of the edge are better for discerning the clarity, milkiness, or amber color in them.

As the PPs said, no one can tell you much from purple pictures. However, the ones that are better lit (from your flash?), give a little bit better view. I don't understand your surprise at white pistils. The fresh ones are always white. If they are pointing straight out, they may not be ready.

Also, I have learned that you shouldn't start counting the time in flower from the point when you flip the lights, but rather when you start to see the white pistils emerge from the first small flowers (usually 12-20 days after flipping the lights). In essence, you would be more likely at the end of week 8 than week 10. My plants flipped a few days after yours, and the first ones (Indica dom) are just starting to show a few amber trichs. I plan to harvest those two in the next day or 2. The one sativa dom I have is not ready - the pistils are more white than red, and are still reaching straight up and out from the flower. I expect this plant to take 1-2 weeks longer than the Indica doms.

The first photo in the second set (bbomb) - looks close to ready to my inexperienced eye and the crosses look a little behind those from what I can see. Only a good close look at the trichs will tell you for sure. About 85% cloudy, 10% clear, with a little amber sprinkled in is what I am looking for.

If you’re still feeding you might consider titrating down slightly…..but don’t starve them before they finish. Unless you plan on smoking the soil, there’s no need to flush or any change in the routine. IMHO
Otherwise keep doing what you’ve been doing. They look great and should be ripe or very close to it in 2 weeks. Keep them healthy and they’ll progress the way they’re supposed to.

From an under cabinet T5 shop light, and not surprised they're white LOL but rather there were no white left, most of the orange are starting to fade to brown, and now there's a ton new white on the same buds is my surprise to see almost like a second flowering. I'll see what I can do about a closeup of the trichs, when I've tried this in the past usually can't get the lighting to look right with the iphone. Magnifier is cool but still not a "clean" shot. Will try again soon.

Man I've heard so many mixed feelings about this question, which is why I said I was counting from flip just to be clear, but will plan to move forward with counting from bud sites appearing. Which yea having pictures on 1/06 it's pretty unclear, but then again on 1/13 and can clearly see the buds forming rather than counting from matured plants flipping schedule. Which would put me at the end of week8 now and clearly within the range of probably early still.

Good lookin out on your indica , hope all yours turn out great!

About 85% cloudy, 10% clear, with a little amber sprinkled in is what I am looking for.
Exactly what my untrained ass is looking for as well. Appreciate all the help!

Nice thread!........... I am in the middle of week 6 (from flip). I am also wondering how much longer, but I can go by trichomes which are about 50 to 70 percent milky with few brown pistils (stigmas) showing.

I have cut off my nutes (which may be too early) today. I am thinking 2 more weeks but I really dont know with this sativa strain. I guess time will tell but I sure dont want to chop too early. Not all plants may be ready at the same time, even though they are all from seeds of lemon haze............

Hey dude, your plant needs like 3 to 4 more weeks. Wait untill every pistol has changed color, and receded back into the bud. There is really no need to watch trichomes before that is happening. The trichomes will be the strains mix of cloudy, amber and very very few clear at that point, unleashing the true power and potential of your weed.

I don’t think that bud is gonna be ripe in 2 weeks…..just my humble opinion.
Great looking and have a lot of swell left if you give them what they need.
In 2 weeks it may be smokable and get the job done, but only at a fraction of it’s potential.
And for heavens sake, feed the plant. It’s only the most crucial time for it have what it needs.
You really don’t want it tapping into its reserve tank with this much time left…..it’s stressful and if the tank is empty before the finish line there’s no fix.

Wait for all the pistils to go brown, then wait some more until there’s no pistils sticking out of the bud.

that’s the toughest part for me, waiting for those little bastards to curl up.
I actually ended up chopping them yesterday. All the new pistils I had were foxtails and growing out in cyclinders all over but not super firm anylonger. I checked midway down each of the buds under a loupe I finally got and sure enough the trichs were all cloudy and a healthy 20% amber so I pulled even though it had a couple pistils still white on top of the largest colas.

Both plants are currently drying hung up in 64degrees with 58% humidity. Now I wait. Should be good. Hopefully LOL

Thanks for everyones support! Like I said I ended up chopping around the 13th, dried in 66degrees with 61%RH for 7 days, light trimmed then stuck it in my tent for a night at 72/55%RH and then trimmed and jarred. Outta the two plants ended up with 128grams I am more than stoked!!

Looks great! Have you had a chance to try her out?
YES! And holy smokes I'm at kite status haha.
The Berry Bomb strain smells like the dankest dank I've ever smelt, however the taste is pretty harsh.
And the Blueberry Cross doesn't have a great smell, not bad but just not great, the taste however is blowing my mind.

Weird how those are opposites, and still very curious what could have been done different to achieve the taste and the smell to both be top notch.
Got 3 more about to flip and start their flowering, this time Candy OG, WW medical grade, and critical cross. So far my critical cross plant is the coolest I've tried/seen growing. It wants to bush out so bad and so far with femming it's at around 16 tops without breaking a sweat or slowing down.
