I am new grower, i tried searching the forums for the answer but couldn't find it.

My setup is a DWC

i have 8 seedling 2 days old from germinate. They still have their "hats" on( i am not sure of the correct term I will add pictures for this). When i should i start to give them light ? I am going to start them on a 18-6 cycle under two 60watts cfls for a total of 1280 lumes. Their are sitting on RW that was soaked at 5.7. I already have build a "veg box and Flower box" with a 600 watt mh bulb, ballast, reflective hood and its all ready cover thermotech black and white reflective film. Also When should i start giving it nutrients ? or when does the plant start to show that it needs nutes ?

i also currently have other seedling which i F'ed up by telling stretched way to tall. the stems are weak, they are my "test" plants. They are stunned but i keep them around to practice the maintenance of the plants to build a habit. Which i have learn a lot from. this is not very first time growing but I am always looking to improve my plants to achieve maximum yield.

you should give them light as soon as you see leafs.
you dont need to feed until they start yellowing or getting real light green. not sure if you need a base amount with hydro since there isnt anything to start with.

Lights now, nutes when they tell you they are ready. The above comment is correct. Also when you start the babies on nutes dont follow instructions on the bottle. I start with 20 percent of recomended from bottle and wait till she becomes a plant before I am ever at the recomended dosage. Just watch her close she will tell you when she is ready for more than the 20 percent.

Good luck

Insane: I wish there was an easier way, but from what you ask, I think you might be new to this so I’d suggest you RTFB and refer to the following sources:
1. Read: SeeMoreBud’s book, “MARIJUANA BUDS FOR LESS- GROW 8 OZ. OF BUDS FOR LESS THAN $100.”
2. Read: Jorge Cervantes’s book, “MARIJUANA HORTICULTURE THE INDOOR/OUTDOOR MEDICAL GROWER’S BIBLE.”
3. Read: Ed Rosenthal’s, “MARIJUANA GROWER’S HANDBOOK.”
4. You’ll also want to read: Mc Carthy’s book, “GROWING MARIJUANA.”
5. You should also subscribe to, “HIGH TIMES,” magazine. Each issue is chocked full of useful information. .” All these resources are very well written, well illustrated and packed with information that will answer most of your questions before you know to ask them. And I want to add a new book to the list, a 6[SUP]th[/SUP] one: “THE CANNABIS GROW BIBLE- SECOND EDITION,” written by Greg Green. It’s a match to, if not better than, the ones listed above. Doing your homework and consulting these resources will save you and your plants a lot of anxiety before you plant. These forums are great but often they can’t get the information you need to you in a timely fashion. I hope this helps. HSA

I start seedling out on day 1 with 50 PPM of nutes and work it to 100 on day 10. It does make a difference and it's also impossible to cause any problems at that low amount. I've done it both ways many times and adding 50 PPM of nutes on day 1 shaves a few days off your veg cycle.

Also consider it this way, in the wild is the ground nutes free? No it's not. :P

I give them light as soon as they are put into rapid rooters, you can see if the seedling is bent over coming up the light starts the white embryo to green, so I say get it ready before they need it. My lights shine on rapid rooters with termed seeds in them for a day or two until they sprout green and ready.

I start nutes after second set of true leaves, the first set is not leaves so third node. Then I start 1/4 to 1/2 strength and raise it pretty fast.

Get fan on them they should be moving some what but not so they get damaged. This will give them muscle stalks to hold most buds.

Remember what works or take notes (I take religious notes and logs on my iPad) and adjust, adapt and grow green. There are a lot of different ways to grow, no way is the correct way for two different people. Do what works for you and by keeping notes makes it simple if you have common sense and can think for yourself.

Oh I always pop helmets off "carefully" never an issue, I want those start leaves getting light ASAP. They come right off with a nice set of twisters and careful hand. I have probably done over 50 twizers way, never problem.

Peace.
