I have recently started my grow op
I have 50 plants of 4 different strains (skunk #1, Blue Dream, Green Crack, and Kryptonite) around 3 weeks from the cloning stage.
I have most of the plants in 2 gallon grow bags and plan on moving the rest to grow bags soon... I have 2 600watt hps lights... Is this enough?
Each plant takes up around 1 sqr foot. I do have another 600 light on standby should I use that light too or will the 2 lights be good to yeild a decent amount?
I was also contimplating getting a light mover?

any advice?
thanks

depends on your room space and how long your gonna veg before flowering. a good rule of thumb is 600w - 1000w for a 4x4 flowering area. id say your gonna need more light. maybe even more than 3- 600's. if your using 2 gal bags now your gonna have to step it up to probably 5 gal bags to finish in and you gotta consider how much room 50 5 gal bags are gonna take up.

I run 2 600's and 4 LEDS in a 8x8 room with 16 plants and I think i need 1 or 2 more 600hps. Based on that I will say for 50 plants you need alot more lighting. But it does depend on how big each plant will be and size of the room.

Best of Luck

OK Cali, first let me preface this by saying that this is not my math, it's from an article that I read. The article was written by a man who teaches medical growing in I think it was Michigan. It stated that 25W/sq ft was as low as you would want to go with 50W/sq ft being optimal. That being said, there are lots people here trying lots of different set ups. It goes from CFL's to those who are making the face of the sun in their basement. Good luck with whatever you land on and remember more Watts=more BTU's so have a plan to keep it cool.

Taken from "Marijuana Grower's Handbook:

Sativa plants require about 660 watts per sq ft (7075 watts per sq m).

Sativa-indica hybrids do best at 60 watts per sq ft (640 watts per sq m) but grow well at about 50 watts per sq ft (535 watts per sq m).

Indicas grow well on 40-45 watts per sq ft (425-480 watts per sq m). They grow bigger, tighter buds at a higher wattage.

I hope this helps out and good luck!

how much can you yield from your 16 plants usually?
Space is good the plants are in a area of around 5x6 roughly... but i have more room...just not alot of cash for more light.

And off subject but what type of nutes should i use to mix with soil media?

Well okay that is roughly around where i am at right now...my plants are in a rows and it measures out to about 5x6= 30 sq ft... and according to the calculations, my lighting is around the 300W from being optimal...the plants have really taken off in the last 7 days and seem to be very happy. I keep the light as close as possible without damaging the plants roughly 8-10 inches and they are really taking off so I wonder if I used the other 600? Would they respond well?
Also I am using soil (indoor) so do you have any advice on nutes...I haven't started them on any yet... I am planning to use nutes/bat guano/mollasses...and feed back on this would be cool....

thanks
