New Grow Cabinet, Need Advice

I just bought a new Cabinet from Home Depot For my 2nd grow.
I'm gonna keep my first cabinet as a veg/mother chamber.


My new Flowering chamber will be 48"H x 48"W x 20" D
I wanted a 400W HPS. Is that gonna produce too much heat with decent vetalation? Will It bee Enough Light?
Would 2 150W HPS Be better for heat and Enough Light?
What is my best solution?

an air (fan) cooled light

is 400W too Small or Just Right?

or would it be cooler with 2 250s or 2 175s?

that size would be perfect for 2 air cooled 250watt hps. i have the same size cab and ive got 2 envirolites 125w each and i should of gone with the 2x 250w air cooled, will change it one day. you could have a 400watt but you would get more even growth with 2x 250s and your plants would have to stay very short because of the height so 250s will handle those just fine

I did some measurements.. And I think I will only fit a single 400W HPS
2 smaller ones will not fit right. I dont think.

But one 400w HPS will be sufficient right. I'm just kinda worried about the heat

Which cabinet model? I am thinking about picking up one.

two 250 watters ones should fit fine, and jive you a ultimatly better yeild dispersing the lumen power

I got it at home Depot. It is an all white cabinet. 72"H x 48"W x 20"D. $108.
I had to by a piece of ply wood for the back. The cardboard that comes with seemed to be a fire risk. Im just trying to light proof it around the door . Any suggestions

Save yourself the trouble. Go with a single 600watt fan cooled. This way you have lots of light to grow. And with a fan vented light and at least 100cfm fan. you should have a great cabinet to grow whatever your heart desires.

hey i completely shit that info out of my mouth, no hijacking intended but what will bring a bigger yeild you think, a 400 watt, or 2 250 watters? would be great to know before shoping for the lights

I agree with GW.... 600 watt air cooled but with 2 fans 1 exhaust and 1 inlet ..... thats what I use in a smaller cab only 32 wide and it works good... plants grow quick with no stretching

My grow cabinet is the same size and I use a 400W HPS with no heat problems.

I had to install a squirrel cage fan on on the top of the box to pull heat out (heat rises)

I dont have a cool tube, but I have a fan that sucks outside air into the box. its connected to ducting that hooks up to my window so I can get fresh winter air. the temps never go above 85*F.

I went with one 400W HPS

just remember with your aircooled 400 watter, first a few inches from the top of your cabinet, then the diameter in height from the cool tube or air cooled reflector. Factor that in before you decide. I went back and forth and went with full spectrum T5's I have may HID lights ready to go. when I am not growing in a cabinet..

you could of fitted 2 250s, it would of depended on the size of the reflectors. is that cab really 4ft wide? good job you didnt get a 600, unless you live in a cold climate you would struggle to keep the temps down in there, you would have to keep your plants so short it would be a waste of light. i still think you would of been better of with 2 250s but you wont go far wrong with that 400. is that an air cooled one?

Yes it is air cooled. I still need to get the fan and hook that up. I will as it gets warmer..
I did add 2 100cfm computer fans for ventilation. works great!

Thanks..and in my old cabinet I have set up 2 mothers in the Veg chamber.
And I have 10 clones I started last night in my bottom..I am so excited...
I am having so much fun!!!!!!!!!
I never thought I would be where I'm at right now....
