New grow box... have a few questions...

well i have 2 100w hps bulbs im ganna set up in a small grow box that is (30x19x34) thats 10.5 cubic ft..



I took the back off and but cardboard covered with foil tape...yeah i know everyone hates on foil but the tape is not bad if you keep it from crumbing. then i cut holes in it large enough for the dryer exhaust tube I planed on using .. first one i have is a stiff one that i cut holes in for the lights to shine thru..

and planed on mounting the tube like this

and planed on using pc fans to exhaust out the back of the box... i know im ganna have heat problems thats y i thought of that.... but not sure if that would work that great either dont pull enough heat out... or it wont put out enough light becuase its inside the tube... i am also thinking if that dont work that i can use the reflectors that came with the lights and mount them both like this

or i just thought of this as i was writing this... what if i use the same tubing and place a short tube out the back with a pc fan on the end. then cuting the tube so the reflector will slide right into it and have the bulb out.


i dont know if anyone had done anything like this before and can give me a few tips but if not then im ganna go ahead and test them and see whats best...

PS. I'm a big fan of visqueen plastic, works great and is easy to put up and take down.

yeah that stuff works good but cant get any around here not even at the hydro shop... i can get some mylar was ganna do that but this is for now .... thnx on the complement

well i think im ganna make this my grow journal ... yet i have to have it set up and running b4 i throw anything in there...

I just put my pc fans in last night... smoked a bowl and got my creative side going so i felt like doing it ... even tho i stayed up till 4 in the morning.. lol.. when stoned on a project sometimes you lose all track of time... i have 4 exhaust and one intake... the intake is the smallest fan i have and its on the door.. i had to cut a lil hole for hair to pass thru, its just ganna pull a lil more air in since i dont want to many big holes im ganna let most of the air flow thru the doors as it has its own passive intake on it. i found some cat 5 cable and striped it for the wires i want and then placed the black outer cover back on .. i use a 12v charger that i found i think its for a moniter or somthing idk... been sitting around for over a year .. must not need it right. at first i had a 6v razor cell phone charger but when i hooked up the 12v man what a diff.. the holes in the back are where the dryer tubing is ganna go with 2 more fans as exhaust...

added my clip on fan as exhaust... now i got to figure out how i wanna do the lights.... well ill post a pic of the new fan...

if anyone has any input on this i would really love to hear what you got to say ... thnx in advance

if i plan on using hps ballest but want to run mh bulb in it sometimes should i just run the bulb in there as is ... i know it works but cuts the life of the bulb,.... or should i get a capasiter for a equal watt mh ballest and wire that into the hps ballest with a switch to change from hps and mh... will that make my bulbs life longer... if so i already made my remote ballest out of a computer power supply box and can use the power switch to change between the 2 bulbs...

Those 2 big holes are exhaust or intake holes right? I really don't think it's a good idea to put them so close to those fans. I would put intake holes in the bottom and exhaust fans at the top sucking out. Thats how I do it.

those 2 big holes is where the lights are ganna be coming in with a dryer vent and a pc fan to vent both of them ... all my fans are exhaust exept for that one small fan on the door,.. yeah i know what you mean it would be dumb to have passive intake right next to and above the exhaust...

well did a lot work on my box since the last time.
first off. i decided to go with my first idea of placing the dryer tubing in a half circle with the ends popping out the back with pc fans exhausting out. and the lights popping out a hole i cut for them... then i hung it up with a chain to support the weight. then put one 6 inch clip on fan as exhaust below the level where the lights are. cut a few holes for passive intake. i then used a 7 gal container and placed six 3 inch net pots filled with hydrotone clay pellets. then glued a little piece of plexiglass to 2 disk air stones and then glued them to the bottom. i had 3 curtian air hose but they wornt working right so i threw them away i got to get more air stones now... then placed a under water fan i plan on using to help mix the water/nute mix...
ganna run it all night tonight.. last time i ran it for an hour it got to 110 b4 i turned on the fans and it droped down to 85 in a few min... so ganna see what it is in the morn...

not sure if im ganna germ in a cup of water or in rw cube..

any ideas or help would be nice....thnx

Well i put 3 seeds in rockwool in a quick small dwc system to see how it works for seeds and it got one to grow but ended up being way to week and stop growing so i just pulled it but i also planted a few in the dirt out front and ive kept it most and so i pulled those out and brought them in and put them in a small pot with seed starting soil.. i then let those grow for about 6 days in soil and then took 3 out of the soil and put in the quick dwc i built for seeds... those did good with white white roots... then after another6 days i decided to put them into the bigger system i built. i just did that last night and took some pics

well the plants are 16 days old after i noticed them pop up... my air pumps or stones or something are not working that great right now i dont know whats wrong with it... well here are some more pics... i have 3 pumps one rated at 80-150 gal, a cheap one from wal-mart... for 20 gal, and another one from wal-mart thats for a 40 gal.. all that for a 7 gal tank thats not even filled with 7 gal and the bubbles suck ass... i bought this stone forgot the name but its supposed to never clog and then 2 disks that arnt hooked up and then two 2 inch stones.... idk why im not getting much air... well luckly for the under water fan i got in there to mix the water and get the oxygen mixed good..
