We used to have a 400+ horsepower Porsche 930 in the family... it did 60 mph in 1st gear and 130 in second gear... it could do 65 in the freeway clover leaves... It was balls to the wall... and it was impossible to spin the tires...

I personaly walk and ride my bike 6 days a week... I find it very comforting and I feel like I get more out of life being KAK diesel BULL strong.. with endurance to BOOT... just makes life that much more FUN..

HATS off to being healthy

So by using core samples they can tell that the Earth has never heated up a whole degree within ten years?
You think that thought is ridiculous, check this one out- I finally watched "An Inconvenient Truth," and Gore said that you can tell WHAT YEAR WE PASSED THE CLEAN AIR ACT BY LOOKING AT ICE SAMPLES IN THE ANTARCTIC. I swear I spit beer everywhere when he rolled off with THAT one.

DANK... YOU ARE TAKING THAT OUT OF CONTEXT...

He (AL) is suggesting that core samples from millions of years ago are accurate based on the comparing recent core samples to recent air quality samples...

It is remarkable to say the least...

I've been reading a little on this. It's to do with the amount of Co2 being emmitted into the atmosphere. It is believed that this was the cause of mass life extinction on the planet 65, 000,000 years ago. It has happened before, due to volcanoes, meteorites, etc.

Although, the unprecedented 1 degree shift Knowm is talking about could mean catastrophic consequences for all oxygen breathing life on the planet. As not only do we have the earthquakes etc still occuring, but we also have fridges, cars, jet engines etc. Scientists would not even be able to guestimate how long it could take for all oxygen on the planet to dissipate. If this shift is unprecedented, I dread to think how quickly it will accelerate over the next 5 years.

We've just built our first sea farm, which will generate enough electricity to power 750,000 homes, cutting so many billions of tonnes of Co2 emissions.

The above theory is in almost direct conflict with the 'comet wiping out the dinosaurs' theory.

lol it is funny that we as humans think everything revolve arounds us this goes back through time man is a needy creature. why do we think that just becaause we are here and living means we are important enough to change something that has been here for a very long time. te earth has cycles to it it goes through ice ages trhen it warms up again every so often Past Cycles: Ice Age Speculations anyways check this out love peace and chicken grease

ummm... interesting spin...

100 years ago the population on planet earth was an amazing 2 BILLION..

TODAY there are an estimated 6 BILLION people walking planet earth....

This is a 300% increase in 100 years.... as opposd to the previous 9000+ years....

For me this is not self importance.. but rather, WORTH NOTING and considering as an IMPORTANT DETAIL... I might also add as an even more amazing and significant detail that 100 years ago you would be HARD PRESSED to find..

computers
cars
microwaves
sugar
tennis shoes
diapers
g-strings
binoculars
condoms
spacecraft
airplanes
styrofoam cups
your mom
big wheels
Mac Pros
shopping malls
rubber tires
nuclear reactors
sky scrapers
nipple rings

etc

hmm i have read that there are bottle necks in the population every so often and this is another cycle that needs to repeat its self. weather it is brought un by humans ie nuke or something along those lines it or natural disaster either way it will have to happen again and soon. Population bottleneck - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Yeah- I'm all for that solution, Lets just start a nuclear war to cull the populace, It might work, and it might estinguish humanity as we know it, so what the hell, lets give her a try! Bombs away!!!!!!

If this theory is correct, all oxygen-breathing life will become extinct. The sea will literally have no oxygen in it. This theory is saying that it isn't a cycle, that the Co2 emissions are the cause. If we lessen the Co2 emissions, we will slow it down. It is happening faster this time because of the extra Co2 being drenched into our atmosphere... we need to find some way of neutralising it.

The Problem I see with the co2 theory is that Co2 makes plants grow better, which in turn plants create more oxygen.
At worse I see a shift in the polar regions on the planet.

the Co2 levels emitted are far, far greater than the oxygen being produced. Even plants need oxygen. They would need to be able to adapt to an oxygenless environment. Maybe something similar happened on Mars, maybe the life cycle there is beginning again.

I've heard about the shifting poles, sounds... dramatic.

Just to put the population thingie into perspective; We could put the entire population of the planet into the State of Texas and there would be approximately the same "elbow room" as those in Hong Kong have. The earth has a LONG way to go before its over populated.

I don't think that the Earth is over populated but it is what the population is doing that is having a huge impact on the Earth. By cutting our Forrest's down and by replacing fields with pavement we are limiting the Earths natural ability to stabilize the environment to continue to support life. Not to mention the fact that we are inducing a huge amount of toxic gas.

Well, the "toxic gas" thingie, I can truely believe. A lot of it is being released right here in this thread. *lol*

I've had a lot of practice, Med. As a single guy, I can tell ya that one of the major benefits of being single, is that you can fart in bed! Sometimes I just lay there and let go a magnificant show-fart just to make a statement. *lol*

Maybe thats the reason you're single. I can fart in bed if I so desire and by now it hardly disturbs my wife. We have grown to accept each others faults and move beyond that, sometimes though, we still have some differences, like what to do with the stepdaughter, the biggest contention in our everyday lives now, If I could, I'd put a contract out on her, but that's illegal!

Not if everybody drives an Escalade
NOt if everyne flushes toilets everytime they shit.

Not if everyone owns a microwave...

SHit... The earth could handle 100 BILLION people if they all just sat around and did nothing..

PUTTing it into context is VITAL to understanding and perspective
