New Cab! 150W hps, dwc and scrog

sorry a bit late with the pics bu here they are.
bought a usb microscope off ebay for like 20 bux, so was playing around the other night, got some nice trich shots! will make checking trichs a lot easier

the little clones in the little pots are experimentals, might play with lollypopping one and something else to the other, also made a micro dwc tub for one of them, will be sort of a growth comparison with the little soil girls.
Unk still hasnt shown sex yet, hopefully within the next week or so.
Have started another seed i got off a mate, he said it from some "dank amsterdam shit" whatever thats suppose to mean , another mother candidate.
I want to have a few different strains to play with and maybe even experiment with cross breeding n shit.

I had considered 2 in there, but this is the first grow withthis particular strain and the modified cab. Now I know the strains growth attribute,s, next round I may go 2 or fill the whole cab with mesh and scrog the whole space
Another option I considered was a sog with a bunch of clones, about 6-9 or so.

estimated harvest date is 15th August, that will be 8 weeks from flip to 12/12. Will be checking trichs around harvest time.
Coming up to week 5 of flower on Wednesday buds are filling out quite nicely, good and dense!

baskarz, how long did you veg the plant for?
I'm currently vegging my plant, and it's nearly been 2 month. It's still small, vegging with 2x130w cfl + 24w cfl. 6500k. It could be small because of the pot it is in and also in soil. I should've did it in a DWC.

I vegged for a little over 4 weeks. That was plenty as once I went to 12/12 it stretched for a week or 2 after which filled the screen right out

Thanks, also i want to know. How hot is it with the 150w? I've a 400w hps, but i want to lower it down. was thinking about a 250w but scared the heat might be still high. Either 150w or 250w.

Being in the middle of winter makes temps easy to manage, I generally keep the cab at around 25c with light on during the night and ambient temps dropping as low as 2c. My 6" inline exhaust fan is on 2 separate speed controllers with one set for light on and the other for light off.
At the moment the fan is barely running just enough to keep cab temp up.
During summer will be interesting, ambient temps soar as high as 43c! Last summer I only had a shitty bathroom exhaust fan and struggled with high temps with the 150 hps... The 250 takes temps about 5c higher than the 150...I think during summer the 6" inline will be running full speed 24/7, its damn loud at full speed too :-/

250w is easy to control Check out my stealth cab I did my last grow in (link in sig) for the smallest space you could fit a 250w into XD it's all about planning and getting the correct equipment and ventilation.

@baskarz - How long did you end up vegging for? I think i said you should be able to get 2 plants in there, but looking at your screen and how well it's filled out I think that 1 canopy utilizes the footprint of the 150w perfectly so 1 plant might be your best bet, plus you can dial that strain/environment in like a bitch and yield ridiculous after a few grows!

I vegged around 4 weeks I think, maybe coupla days less. I'm running a 250w hps now, next grow I might try out a hempy scrog with screen covering the whole space. Or maybe hempy sog perpetual with up to 9 clones, 3 at a time spaced a few weeks apart, undecided yet

Ah Cool, have you considered a 'better' reflector to get a larger footprint off of it, a 250w should do a 3ftx3ft area! I always veg for 4 weeks and my girls don't end up looking as big as yours maybe it's just the hydro that speeds them up that much, doing my 1st DWC run so hopefully mine will fill a large screen quickly too.

Do you clean/change your res at all? I forget, does your lid come off with the screen, so you can separate the plant/screen/lid from the bucket.

As for your next grow try everything you can! Hempy Scrog with the attached screen would work brilliantly due to the low maintenance of Hempy, all you do is water! I found SOG a bit of a bitch, too many different plants to keep happy, maybe a single strain SOG in a shared DWC tote, flower from rooted clone, that'd work well. If your doing it multi strain just be careful, different strains like different nutes and I found it's not worth the hassle with more than 2 strains... Just too much fiddling around/burning etc of the more sensitive ones.

i do have another reflector, its made from the reflector aluminium sheet but its not aircooled, just an open relector like you get with the hps kits.
The footprint coming out of the current reflector covers the cab nicely, i can see the line of light on the insides and it covers about 3" above the canopy so everything gets plenty of hps lovin
i still have room to raise it another 2" or more but no need as yet.
I clean and change the res every sunday and just keep the level up during the week, shes generally drinking about 700mL a day so top up every 2-3 days.
And yeah the screen is attached to the lid and i have another identical res i sit it in while i clean and refill the main bucket. check out the first post in this thread and you'll see pictures of how i did it, basically the 2 side plates that hold up the screen are riveted to the lid, its permanent
Ive been thinking up a way to have one big screen and 2 hempy buckets and training each one to half the screen each, should work nicely, just waiting for another strain now....

Bit of an update, shes still filling out and the buds are getting a lot denser, some are very hard
Showing a bit of a deficiency but with only 2 weeks or so to go im not overly worried.
She's also smelling quite strongly, i can smell her outside of the shed! and with a park right on the other side of the fence, ive had to take measures to ensure stealthyness.
So i went n made a carbon filter.
Just used some bird mesh to make 2 different sized tubes about 9" long with the biggest about 5" diameter, and shade cloth material to keep the activated carbon at bay. About 3/4" - 1" thickness of carbon. It fits into the exhaust duct in the cab, just need to seal around it a bit better.
i jammed it in anyway and i definately notice significant difference in smell out of the exhaust duct even tho its not sealed properly.

time for some piccys

wicked! at least with hempy's, you don't need to take the buckets out to clean them so 1 big screen works very well... I'm doing 1 big screen with DWC.. I can empty the buckets with a hosepipe and the valve but I can't clean them... :/ oh well

yeah thats whats appealing to me with the hempys is the low maintenance
am starting to get tired of pulling the dwc bucket and screen out to clean/change the res, especially now its grown wider than the door so getting it out knocks a few of the buds around a bit.

leaves seem to be going more pale green / yellow, maybe bit of N deficiency? but seeing as its only a week off the chop, ill be flushing soon anyways

me homemade carbon filter is working a treat, no smell at all outside the box, but when i open the door that aroma is awesome!

Nice, I like to try to keep the leaves green throughout the grow even in flower, just add a dash of N... but yeah they are looking about 50/50(clear/cloudy) - 40/60.

Maybe a bit more than 5 days 'til chop, I'd go 7-14 so another week or so, you should have a good 80/20(cloudy/amber) split by then. This stretch of any grow is always the hardest, the impatience sets in very firmly lol.

Day 46 I think, dont remember the exact date I switched to 12/12.... Anyways, another week or so to go to make it 55 days of flower. Coming along very nicely, nice dense buds all over. I can't stop smelling my fingers after touching it
Looking forward to tokin up some of these nugs! Friend I got this clone from harvested his about 2 weeks to early, no brown hairs at all, but it still smoked up very well. That's why I can't wait to try mine that's gone full term, should be awesome!

Well I harvested last night after 3 day flush.
Yes it may be a little early but I didn't really want the full on couch lock if I had of waited for amber trichs. Have a good more than half cloudy and a sample nug gave me a nice energetic high which is what I'm after
wet weight of 298g (10.5oz) not bad I thought.
Going on about 25% of the wet weight once dried, should end up with about 2.5oz or so. Well within my estimate
Will post pics later and dry weight in a week.
