Just got my Secret Jardin DR80 (80x80x160cm) with 600W HPS with a dimmer switch down to 400W on the digital ballast. I will probably use that setting for veg and 600W for flowering. Got a 5" inline fan with carbon filter sucking out 280 m3/hr.

However, I have been a complete idiot and ordered the wrong bloody soil, I was meant to order canna coco mix but got terra professional mix instead. I've got canna coco A+B nutes and aqua flores A+B which one of my good friends donated. I am wondering If I will be able to use coco A+B and aqua flores with this soil?

Will upload some pictures when my camera battery charges.

Just got back from work, here are some pictures.

1. 400-600 switch on the ballast
2. the plug that came with the fan, wtf.
3. The setup
4. Light w/ carbon filter
5. The seeds - got one fem Lowryder 2 seed in there so going to start that, let it grow for a month then put the SLH and ASH in there so I can keep the lowryders light cycle 18/6 for its life span. Probably going to veg the sativas for a month or so, depends how tall they get.

I just picked up a DR80 too... I think your going to need alot of air movement to keep a 600w hps cool in the DR80. An aircooled hood might help.. Im going to run a 250 mh to veg and 400 hps to flower in an aircooled hood... I hope it does kool for you. I will be watching this grow..

Nice set up WOW you'll grow some monsters in there m8..

You just need a 'Kettle Lead' for your fan by the looks of it.. bet that was a pain when that turned up like that!

Yeh I'm going to run a temp test before I germ these seeds, if needs be I'll buy a cooltube next month and run CF > cooltube > exhaust fan. Because these sativas are going to want to stretch, theyll get closer to the light as well. All out of cash atm though. Is your 400W ballast MH and HPS or just HPS?

@ edsthreads

My exact thoughts when I saw it was "fuck my life". The kettle lead arrived today but I was at work so it's gone back to the post office, so i'll go pick it up tomorrow before work.

QQ about ducting - my fan and CF are 125mm, as is the ducting, so the ducting won't stretch over the fan or CF, if I just tape the ducting to it, it's not gonna loose too much suction that way is it?

God I hate that.. you wait ages for something to arrive & when it does your bloody out..
You'll be fine WOW just get some duct tape and tape them together you won't lose any suction, you might have to check on it every now & then though but that will work just fine..

Im going to get the lumatek 400w so i don't have to have two different ballasts.. it runs 250w mh and hps and 400w mh and hps.

Why don't you just run 400 MH for veg as well, might be worth getting those extra few nodes in there.

Kettle lead arrived today so I can at least test out the fan. It's silent as far as the motor goes but the air movement is audible, 280 m3/hr. Going to be having a move around next week so I can move the tent to a seperate part of the room where I can attach the fan to the wall. I cannot wait to get it up and running. Needed to get some weed last night and all we could get was grit weed which reminded me just how nice it's going to be to have some nice fat buds to play with.

Creamfields this weekend, wooooo.

ok i made the same mistake as you with the lights. first if you dont use a air cooled refleckter the heat will go to 100F+ to to hot. my tent is a dr150 and i still had heat issues the hps light let alot of heat out i mean loads of heat out with just a normal reflector. you will 100% need a air cool refleckto a cool tube is also good its the cheapest way and it sucks out alot of heat out. what is the size of your out take fan?

It's a 5" TT inline fan. Not sure on the cfm but it's 280 m3/hr. If I need a cooltube, I'll have to wait another month or so until my next payday, going to run some temp tests next week on the 400W and 600W settings.

ok 5" fan wouldnt do a gret job, you want something like 6 - 8" fan a good one that is. but i would get a cooltube a 6" may be bigger if u want. but defnly a bigger inline fan, try the 600 watts out you know what i mean with the heat

I can't really afford to change my fan/ cf setup seeing as I only just got this one and I'm bear skint! I've heard of plenty of people using 400W light in a 5" cooltube.

LOVEHATE - with a digital ballast, your elec bill won't be too bad, I wouldn't worry about it mate!

Nice setup and very nice strains. I am still scratching my heads as to why you growers don't grow in your garages and use the nice winter air to keep your tents cool. I do it and they stay very cool as my garage gets cold in the winter.

Then if U have a apartment do it in your closet, most closets in apartments have a AC vent coming in. Hook up a duct line straight to the AC vent and let the main AC blow the nice cool air into your tent. Use your environment around you teo help U.
