It has a HVAC vent that blows into the closet that helps regulate temps. I have to leave the door wide open to regulate temps and stale air. I’m staying at a friends house, so I can’t cut holes for exhaust/intake fans. I do have a small 4in in-line fan coming that I’ll hang slightly from the ceiling, then run out of the top of the black out curtain, to exhaust the stale, hot air. I can’t seem to drop the temp to ideal levels. If I have the black out curtain completely open it’ll run at around 78, but it drops the humidity. With the curtain closed around 80. It maxes out in the heat of the day with curtains closed, at around 83. Is this too high for vegging? For flowering I may buy a portable AC unit, to bring temps down ...The exhaust fan may bring down temps some. I bought a humidifier because the RH was slightly low for vegging. It usually runs between 40-60%. I am running two “1000w” king plus LED’s. They are 400w HID equivolents. I’m assuming this is enough light for the area? I may vertically hang a 200w fluorescent during flowering for undergrowth. I have 7 seedings of blue dream, and a few bag seeds. I’m hoping to get at least 4 females. I’ll top, and FIM at least twice. I’ll probably be growing in 7gal planters (maybe 10gal) Do y’all think I could maximize my yields with 4 large plants, or should I squeeze in more?

83 ain't bad if you don't get higher temps. If you add any more lights your temps will go up for sure tho.

I'd stick with 4 plants in that space or it will get really crowded unless you do a SoG type grow with more but smaller plants.

40-60% rh isn't bad compared to mine but run lower nute levels when the rh is low and you should be fine. That's what I'm going to be doing with mine to prevent toxic salts build up like I have been getting.

4 or 5 gallon pots should be lots as you can't grow trees in there.

:peace:

I’ll probably just train and bend the plants to create a canopy, no SoG... I’m sure the humidity levels will go up as the temp rises. Keep in mind I’m in south Texas, so there’s a drastic difference during summer months. Maybe with indoor temps too... I’ll just grow out how many females I get out of this batch... I also just ordered cloth 7 gal pots. They should give me the size I need. I’m going to try to stick with organic fertilizer teas. Bat and seabird guano.

Plenty of room, but keep in mind just because a light company says 400w HID equivalent doesn't mean its true, those lights are 185w a piece, that's what you want to pay attention to with those types of lights, with that in mind I would keep your canopy no more than a 4x4 when it comes to flowering. You can still produce plenty in a 4x4. I would possibly be tempted to go 3x3 to be sure to get the light and density you want, but go with trial and error.

I’m basing off of these two reviews. The manufacturer never claimed 400w... they said 1000 lol. These kingplus 1000w are only $100 each. So I’m sure they aren’t too powerful, yet every review I seen online or on YouTube says the spectrum is actually pretty good. They supposedly grow pretty nice plants. I know they pull less from the wall than 400w, but they should hold down my small area pretty well. I’m thinking I probably should’ve grabbed the “1500w”. Like I said I’ll probably hang a couple 200w CFL’s vertically too make up for the low wattage, and to hit lower branching.

Update on the grow: plants are liking the light. No stretching. I’m keeping the temps below 80 consistently. The two larger plants are three weeks from seed. The smaller seedlings are at about a week and half old. All organic. I’ve hit the two older seedling with a compost tea. Bat guano, fish emulsion, kelp meal, blood meal, earth worm castings, and compost. The smaller plant is growing considerably slower than the larger plant... about half the size. If growth doesn’t pick up in the next few days, I’ll pull it. ✌

Hey, that light really isn't near enough light for the area you are tryino to cover. Mind you the cols will help but you would have to have a fan pointed at them all the time. They actually produce a LOT OF HEAT. I have used cfls before. You can produce quality bud but aren't what there is available.
Build a small cob light to help and make your space smaller and limit your grow until you can get more good light. Check out any cob fixture or build using citizen chips usually clu048 and Cree chips, as well as bridge luxury and luminus.
If you have an old computer tower, use the power supply to build a light with a bunch of cheap 12v cobs off eBay with a heatsink enclosed with computer fans to cool it off. Any of that would produce more light compared to the one you got. Even y splitters with store bought led bulbs with white globes taken off would be almost better.
Good luck though and have fun.

I’m trying to figure out how to build a DIY COB right now. Cobkits is supposed to hook me up with something. Around 400w... the plant wasn’t growing at all. I just took it out of the closet and put it in the window seal. If it takes off I’ll just put it back in there

That is no good, that light should have at least kept it going. But cob kits will be way better.
No biggie. It was bagseed. I think it’s just poor genetics. Had some mutation and lacked true green color. It grew regularly initially then around week and half, just quit. No undergrowth or anything. I have 6 more seedlings though. I have legit seeds coming in a few weeks.
Now that outside temps are increasing, I’m just going to veg in the back yard and use my room for flowering.

Good job,
just remember with higher temps you should feed on the lighter side because they transpire more water at higher temps
Good luck :)
Thanks man. I’m in soil, I only feed with organic ACT’s. I should be good huh? I feed them almost every watering (which right now is twice a week). They seem to be doing well.

The only time it gets above 80 is when the lights are on with the curtain closed. It’s only closed for an hour or so in the morning when I’m too lazy to get up at 6 am. Normal temps are 73-78 around 40-50% humidity without the humidifier on.

The plant that my buddy put in the window, I actually brought back in, and the thing took off. It’s probably going to be the heaviest yielder. I believe it’s blue dream from bagseed. That’s the first close up, second close up is supposedly Afghan kush. Very frosty and fruity. I’ve gone all organic so the terps are incredible. A few more weeks
