Nervous about first grow

For that size I wouldn't go over 600ppm. Highest I ever even went was like 1200 when I was in the midst of flowering. Adding 200ppm every two days seems a little overkill too, I only add nutes once a week when I do my res change. Plant really doesn't look too bad, I say just keep the nutes around 500ppm for the next week, follow the nute schedule on the bottle or if you've found one online and keep an eye on the roots. Just keep things stable and ride it out. You don't wanna overdo your corrections and just start chasing your tail by creating new problems. And don't go overboard, 1000ppm would be overkill in my opinion.

Thank you for the great advice and I will keep it around 500ppm. I am doing a rez change tomorrow. But the problem seems to be getting worse so maybe the problem is the high ppm. I was reading the forums and it looks kinda like a magnesium deficiency :/ idk like you said I don't want to add mg and possibly make it worse but I also want it to get better

I suggest adding cal-mag slowly----I run RO and have to add it to GH 7ml micro / 14ml bloom /1ml cal -mag per gallon of h20.

Good size chiller---same size I use.

I agree, does look like magnesium deficiancy. Read here: http://www.growweedeasy.com/magnesium-deficiency-cannabis

As mentioned at that link: In hydro, magnesium is best absorbed by the roots in the 6.0 - 6.5 pH range (in hydro, it's generally recommended to keep the pH between 5.5 - 6.5, but magnesium specifically tends to be best absorbed above 6.0)

So I'd say push your PH up to 6.0 for right now to help with absorbtion, it will still be acceptable range for other nutrients so no worries there. Then keep PH at 5.8 after the problem is fixed rather than 5.7, atleast a little closer and generally where most hydro growers keep the PH. And like Alaric said it sounds like Cal-Mag would def help, also mentioned in the link.

Here's an awesome chart as well:

you will learn something new everyday for as long as you want to learn something.

when I first started growing they called me the student lol, I would spend 2-4 hours a day watching videos and reading riu.

Alot of the joy is gone, I found great method and I stick to that so it's just routine

(Sog style flood tables) only way I've ever seen 2 off a light

but honestly nothing compares to experience.

if I can tell you anything its environment is the key. Consistency also

I say go for it if you really want too.

if things start to go bad, just transfer it to a bag of ocean forest

Goodluck
Just starting my second grow my first was super ice grapefruit and got around a k ish from 19 plants ,this time I want to better that I have the same beans as last time plus half dozen big bang2 last time was soil in pots thinking of hydro this time where do I start

I actually was reading that link when I figured it might be magnesium. I just put 15ml in my 10g rez. Wish me luck

I can't say it enough.

Try maxi series from GH.

Its super cheap. $15 for bag of maxibloom. Itll last entire grow.

I run 4 lights and use 2 bags, start to finish. $30!

Kool bloom is awesome product too!

There's:

Maxigrow
Maxibloom
Kool bloom

ITS PH BALANCED AND CONTAINS EVERYTHING YOU NEED. (Possibly calmag if using well or ro water)

just 1/2 - 1 1/2 scoops per gallon.

One scoop per gallon puts me at ≈ 1000 ppm and 6.1 ph

How high has you pH been drifting?

I would not jump to the conclusion of Cal Mag deficiency before you address any pH drifts.

Exact #s and times?

I check my PH 2 times a day. It stays between 5.3 and 5.7. I have 2 PH meters and I use the drops.

I have the General hydroponics flora grow and micro bloom and stuff. I wouldn't mind trying that though, I just would hate to waste mine and buy another.

That's good n easy stuff to use too. Very close, but powder is way cheaper....

technically you're just buying the powder in paying for the water lol

But when it runs out, I suggest trying maxi series, again way cheaper. I bought a 15 lb tub for $80. N bag of kool bloom. So $95, it'll last me 3-4 grows and I run 4kw.

Just to be clear-----you use GH grow and micro and bloom? What other stuff?

I think its pH issue. Too low.Causing begining lockout of cal n mag

Just adjust pH n wait few days. No more calmag IMO.

Welcome to RIU:)

IMO, you're using the wrong approach starting seed in paper towel then moving to DWC then having to hand water to keep them alive.

6.5 ph is out of bounds----5.2-5.8 for hydro. Do you know the EC to PPM conversion factor for your ppm meter (if not, what manufacture)?

Watering too much is more revenant to soil----not hydro if nutes well oxygenated.

My suggestion for starting seed:

16 oz plastic cups, a few slits in the bottom for drainage-----vermiclite (sp) Around 250 - 300 ppm flower nutes.

Plant seed only slightly beneath the surface 1/8".

Let it grow until it gets a pretty good root system.

Remove from cup and gently rinse the roots off----then put into DWC. Same method can be used to root clones.

I'd be nervous about your 80F room temp in DWC------nute temp = air temp if not cooled some way----no experience with the frozen water bottle trick----check out the DWC sub forum here for experiences with that.

Here's what I'm talking about (pic of rooted clone but same approach for seed).

This is exactly what I would of told you, start your seeds in vermiculite not a paper towel. Also for your first time growing I personally would of suggested soil. Not everyone would agree with me but it's more forgiving. Lets you focus your attention to other aspects of the grow from seed to harvest. Good luck with your endeavor. And remember, DONT LOVE YOUR PLANTS TO DEATH!

I have my PH at 6.0 and my ppm at 750. Water temp stays 68F and grow room temp is about 80F. How are they looking so far?

Looks good, i could only load the first pic, but I can see that the newer leaves are looking real good. How long do you plan on vegging?
