Need Temporary White "Wall" for New Groom

Hello Friends,

I'm building a new grow room by putting u a new partition wall in my basement. Dimensions of the room will be: 8'L x 7'H x 4' D. Def not my first grow, but I've been working in cabinets and closets for a few years.

I'm basically partitioning off a basement room at the front of my house, that has a window that opens up underneath my front porch. (Bonus!!!!) It's a long term plan that I'll add to between grows. (upgraded electrical, drywall, sealed, painted, etc.)

For now, I've got the lumber to frame up the wall, but the drywall will have to wait until December or later.

IN THE MEANTIME.....I'd like to put some white plastic or something up for the next 4-6 months and use the space. Have plenty of flat white paint to put on everything.

Any suggestions? I was surprised at the cost of Panda Sheeting. I found some white poly sheeting made by Husky at Home Depot (I really hate that place.) but don't know if it will work.

Cheap. Temporary. Effective.

Here is a rough sketch up (scale is not correct) The window is the square on the back wall, The partition wall is in the foreground. There will be a doorway.

u said u have it basically studded in well the next set would be insulation this would do that plus y can paint them white until the walls are in they can act like that .......just rem to poly wrap your walls before u drywall them in this will allow u to use Co2 effectly plus makes a great smell/thermal/sound protection from snoopers


as for the door in can i offer this idea.........the child magnetic locks for stuff the ones u need a magnet at the right point to make it unlock and open up ...where the door would be u set up a frame with hidden hinges and drywall it over using one of those locks to allow u to swing open ..........just make one wall with a standard wall vent the 4x8 one and inside set it so it curves down of even a U shape (prevent looking it)

2 things that trip ppl up the seam is seen .....the other the door is heavy and leaves scrap marks on the ground or leaves a line of dirt shows something was there

as for the seam i cam offer the idea of paneling rem the old 70s wood grain look it has a long vertical break/darkspot in the paneling makes a great hiding of seams

Thanks for your frugal suggestion, but OMG!!!!!!
I grew up with it in rural America,, and my home of 15 years (in a big city) has a whole basement full of that paneled , 60's stuff!!! (bought it that way) I
can't rip and re-use any of it without making an obvious impression.
FYI: the other 3 walls of the new room are old, icky 60's paneling too!!!!!.

I have a couple of buckets of Kilz white and of Behr, flat white. So, I figured I'd just paint the paneled walls all white (3 coats) and !!! Add the partition wall that's the 4th, new wall.

well it is great for hiding that seam for a hidden doorway it is what i have here for storage how i know about it but anything with that vertical line /break in it will work

yep that shit is great big cheap light and best of all dense for sound protection so your fans go unnoticed..........it is light enough to be hung with the door so it does not sound hollow......just rem to make it a 2 latch lock so not wobble

with that up too your thermal signal from int there is masked like shit they could bee in the house pressed to the wall as long as u cut and put it in to fit u should be great ................if anyone asks u made a panic room

oh for the thermal u need to fill in the whole area between the 2 walls ..............that is the trick the air can not pass tho the layers of bubbled air so to them they only see the temp of the outside wall everything inside no matter how hot it is blocked .........so look at 2 inch thick if u are using 2x4framing

if at all possible if u are doing this near the dryer have that venting out that window too so u now have a logical answer why they see a hot spot in that area (the window is covered by the porch and makes that area smell nice do the fabric softener / something u or wife added into the line so it always did smell nice) ...............around the porch/deck u plant thorny rose bushes and jasmine flowers ..............jasmine hides the smell of weed from dogs and the thorny bushes prevent them digging in for closer smell away from flowers......hot chill peppers too if your weather lets u

So many old houses being gutted in my neighborhood. Sad,...sad.

BUT I love to jump the dumpsters and reclaim shit. I've been focusing on enameled faucets! HAA! what can I grab that will help me with my room/wall?

my buddy just did his whole basement in that stuff, the foam board.

I am a big fan of panda film as it is black on one side and white on the other. You can buy a 10' x 100' roll off the internet fairly cheap.

it is just like poly wrap but stronger ............u will not get the same amount of sound and thermal protection but it would seal the room up nicely for Co2 interjection

i would stick with the foam board then poly wrap it in right before u do the dry wall inside .......u are going to get a great amount of peace at night knowing that relative that is spending the night is not going to hear see or smell it ...........if u do the ceiling with some IR blocker or the 2 inch foam u will be covered from over flying cops and flair

Drywall is cheaper than tyvek.
