Hi, I am a first time indoor grower. Ive tried growing outdoors but fuckin animals keep eating that shit no matter if i put up chicken wire piss all around it and fuckin yank half my hair out to put around it...sooo i decided to try growing in my closet.

Now I can't really used a high watt HPS bulb because of poor ventilation.

Keep in mind Im only planning on growing 1 or 2 plants at a time...

ok so I have a 2 foot 2 lamp flourescent fixture that I will hang above my plants. I picked it up at home depot. I looked around for bulbs and couldnt find any 2 foot flourescent bulbs higher than 20 watt, however they did have 2 foot 20 wat plant/aquarium bulbs so i nabbed 2 of those.

I was wondering how well these would work and figured that it it is not enough power I could rig up a few normal screw in 40w flouescents to jack it up a bit...

what do you think?

any other suggestions?

Man I have four plants growing with CFL (Compact Flourescent Lights).

The bulbs are giant though! They are 125V each...one for each light spectrum.

Here's the link for them...

Great thing is they produce really LOW HEAT! No ventilation required. And just enough heat to keep your babies warm in this winter weather. My reccomendation would be to put up Mylar all around to get the most light possible.

NO ALUMINUM FOIL!!!

Go on eBay and type in "Mylar" and get yourself a roll. I bought a huge roll for about $40.

Aluminum foil creates unwanted heat, and once crinkles can direct light spots onto your plants causing them to burn.

If your walls are white use nothing for now until you get yourself some Mylar.

The T8's, T12's etc won't work for long; you'll need to get a T5 setup. I bought two of them 42" long double bulbs for under $100. That'll grow 2 plants like crazy.

haha ya you gotta watch them animals ;p
A rule i use outdoor is, for every one plant i want, i plant 5.

1 for a person to steal
1 for an animal to get
1 for weather to kill
1 that just doesn't make it
and 1 for me..
;)

as far as the foil.. just don't use it man.. it's not perfectly flat so it causes hotspots.. if you have to hang white cloth in there or white plastic, or paint it flat white do that.. or get mylar. keep the mylar flat as you can, or it's just as bad as tin foil...
flat white is the 2d best relfectant.. and spreads the light the most evenly. you can use foil though i mean.. technically.. you just have to move your plants around alot to keep them from developing burns on the foilage.
