need some help on my clones please

ok. so i had another post that was a little more broad so this time im gonna be more specific. i pulled some clones from four different plants and this is my first time cloning, i need some help. i will explain in detail what i did and how i did it to help you help me, if you would be so kind.

first i cloned 3 plants the same way and the 4th i cloned today a little different.(4th plant wasn't quite ready yet) on the first three i made the cuttings and put them in water immediately. (one plant at a time) for each cutting i scraped approximately 3-5 mm of skin off of the bottom of the stem after pulling out of the water. next i took the razor blade and sliced down the middle of the stem where the outer skin was removed. now i did this because in the book im reading it said that this is the best way to get a good strong root system because you are increasing the surface area of the possible rooting zone. so after doing this to each cutting as fast as possible (trying to prevent embolisms) i would dip the root in cloning gel for about 10 seconds, then transfer to rooting plug. when i was done i placed the humidity tent over the clones and let it get nice and humid. its been at about 90% humidity and about 72-78 degrees. for the first 72 hours i let them get ambient light from the 24hr 1000w hps i have in the corresponding room. skipping back a little, at the 24hr mark i used a hudson sprayer with a very light amount of nutrients. i sprayed the leafs and the rooting plugs. at the 48 hr mark i checked on them and it smelled kinda musty so i checked the unused plugs and saw that they were soggy so i grabbed all the plugs and squeezed the excess water out. since then i have pulled about 7 clones because they looked like they had a little mold and or weren't gonna make it. right now im at the end of day 4 and i have moved the clones into the room with the hps sitting under the canopy of one of the four plants.

the clones i took today were done with a much more simplistic method. i cut two bottom leafs off at 45 degree angles then cut stem at 45 and went straight into cloning gel. i put a small amount of water into all of the remaining plugs with clones and it looks like i might lose another 7 clones or so.

1) what do you think im doing wrong?

2) what do you think im doing right?

i appreciate ALL feedback. thanks guy, and girls. (the few that are out there)p3-3.jpgclones day 4-4.jpgclones day 4-2.jpgclones day 4-5.jpgclones day 4-3.jpgclones day 4-1.jpg

Okay make sure that no air is getting in you want it nice and tight in the rapidrooter.Poke a hole in the bottom with a pen top works for me all the time.
Your clones do not need much light definately not from a 1000 watt.Get you 2 cfls and keep it over the humidome you should be fine.I clone all my plants like this and hardly have any problems.

im going to the store tomorrow to get cfl's. about the nice and tight tent tho. im afraid that since i saw what could have been mold if i keep it completely sealed the mold will only have an even better environment to breed in. hence the reason why i put them in more light and why i have the humidity tent windows cracked open. even with the windows open i still get like 90% humidity and i know im gettin some airflow cause i got two fans in that room.

ok so i have come to a couple of conclusions about my first three sets of clones. 1) the time it took to scrape off the skin at the base of the stem could have taken too long and created an embolism. < possible solution is to do both under water> or 2) i cut too high up the stem causing an embolism. or 3) since the growing medium is difficult to put a split stem into, most of the stems didn't go deep enough into the medium (wyteberrywidow called that one when he said to poke a hole in it.)

Trust me when i tell you stick a hole at the bottom of the rapid rooter with a pen or pen top so it can sit nice and tight making sure no air gets in place in a humidity dome and mist several times daily Your clone will root within 7-10 days.
