Need some help furthering my 1000w tent set up.

Right now I have:

4x4 Tent
1000w select a watt ballast
XXXL Air cooled hood
1x MH
1x HPS
Pots

I have a couple grows under my belt so far both going from seed, and one went alright.

This time around I would like to make it more challenging and either start with cloning, perpetual harvest, or both and would like some guidance.

What would you guys recommend I go with next and what equipment would be best to achieve this?

My biggest desire would be to stop ordering seeds. What I have in mind is maybe turning my tent on it's side, or leaving it verticle and building a shelf. Then having one side be a clone area and the other be a SOG. Would that be plausible?

I was also considering moving into the direction of hydro, but I think I might stay with soil another go or so, so that I'm not changing too much at once.

Thanks in advance for any help. Sorry if I'm missing anything ill be going to get more nutes and soil soon and want to have a list of anything else I need to pick up.

I think you are right about not changing to much all at once. You should be evolving towards your ideal to keep it interesting though. I think the next logical step would be to get a motherplant or 2 going and lose the soil. Maybe try coco, it is hydro but is fed from the top like soil. You have a lot of options, think long term. What do you want ?

Something like that would be idea, in the end I would like to keep the size of operation that I have, but I want to be able to have all the great advantages of using clones. Would I need a new enclosure for my mothers, or would my idea of splitting my tent up work for that as well?

Good idea on the coco, sounds like a nice inbetween without rushing into too many pumps, resivors, etc. Ill take a peak at that.

With a tent, vertical clearance is already an issue....you have a lot of wattage making heat and need to be able to lift up the hood. Also I put a table that drains the runoff in the tent so that eats up space. Basically, the tents are nicely engineered to function a certain way. That 1000w with the xxl hood and 9-16 plants...done. As far as the mom goes 100-200w t5 flourescent will work great without all the heat...they make tents small enough for single plants. Also, an enclosure is not necessary, a light above a plant on 24/7 will get the job done.

Carbon filter with _ inch fan. Make sure it fits your hood. If not you will have to but a converter.
Clone tray with a humidity dome.
Rock wool cubes.
Another light.

Take clones keep mother plants and get a good cycle going.

Make getting excellent genetics a primary objective, clones need around 2 months before they should be taken off the mother...it is a hormonal thing. Don't forget ducting.

Thanks that is almost exactly the kind of information I was looking for. I happen to have a 2 bulb 2' t12 "grow light" flourescent, think that would work? I will probably go with another smaller tent even though enclosure is not necessary, I work in a shed and don't want any pests or dirt getting in the way.

Forgot to mention my man, I obviously have a 8" fan running with my 1000w but nothing for my mother plant area yet. I've also gone without a carbon filter thus far and will probably continue to, I'm fortunate enough to live in a rural area.

Thanks for all the good info so far!

For the time being it looks like I may go with
A small veg tent to house a mother and get clones started
Use my 2' 2bulb t12 (unless advised against doing so)
and switching my entire set up to coco, which a long comes with that new nutes.

One more thing, Your mother is your most important plant. Bugs need to be prevented, quarantine her. Spray organic pesticides at 10-14 day intervals, keep her fed but not over-fed. Coco has its own rules....learn them and get ready for greatness. Clones need very little light, if the t12s are enhanced spectrum use em.

I think I might have already deviated my path.... I really aspire to get hydro going at somepoint, and seeing as I am not in a rush to get a good harvest I'm thinking I should jump into it now rather than learning coco then moving onto hydro as soon as I get coco figured out.

Could someone point me in the right direction for getting started with hydro? The search function isn't really acting as my ally today....

Edit: Other big question, will a 2 bulb 2" t12 be sufficient for my mother? I have that on hand and want to keep keep low so I don't need more fans, but I'm willing to spend money to treat her right if needed.

Your mothers might do nicely in coco, I see your point but hydro is not my domain. I would buy a used book on it. Be thorough
