Alright im brand new to growing but i got a basic idea of how everything works. Ive been growing these plants since about the middle of april but i started them with a 15 watt light which didnt do the trick. So i didnt get a new light until about a week ago and its 120 watts and made for growing, and the pictures are taken from today. I was wondering if anyone could give me any advice to grow them faster or if the plants look unusual tell me what i should do to change that, im on a tight budget, and dont have a lot of room to grow. Any help would be greatly appreciated. (i use scotts flower and vegetable fertilizer.)

Is this a regular houshold bulb? Or a florescent?
Best thing to help it out is more light. Pay attention to lumen out put on whatever bulb you buy. You want as many lumens as possible.

If it's one of those blue coated lights, it's the wrong kind. You need compact flourescent or flourescent tubes.

it is actually one of the blue coated lights, but it said on the package that it was made for healthy plant growth, do these lights give off the wrong spectrum of light?

Look at it again. It says it makes the plants LOOK greener.I made the same mistake as a newb grower, but I corrected it quickly. It is incandescent, and therefore wrong for your plant. Here's what cfl's look like.https://www.rollitup.org/view.php?pg=faq&cmd=article&id=587 In the growfaq, it explains about HID lights, too.

You're welcome! If you can afford HID,I recommend it,even a 150 watt hps will blow away cfl's.But for now, get some cfl's or flouro tubes and get that incandescent off of your babies!
Got one more question, i live near a home depot and they sell spiral cfls there, would these cut it or is there something i should look for when im buying these bulbs

Yeah. You want cool white for veg, sometimes they're called daylight. They have a color temp of 6500k,should say on the box.Don't look at lumens, that just tells you how bright they are.Get the biggest ones you can, put them about two or three inches away, surround the plant. If you decide to flower with cfls, you'll have to switch to warm white for flower, with a color temp of 2700k. If you can afford a HID, get one.Htgsupply on the net has complete grow lights for fair prices on the net.

Ok would it be good to get more than one light or will one do the trick?

They definitely look like they are stretching. You should move the light closer, and get the spiral CFLs or flourescent tubes.

You'll need more than one cfl, most definitely. You need to surround the plant with them. DO NOT move that flood light any closer. It will burn the shit out of them.Use it till you get your cfl's,because some light will be better than none, then trash it.What's your budget?

well i can definetly afford more than one there only about 8 bucks per 100 watt bulb, so i was thinking maybe i could get two daylight bulbs and two warm white. Unless its reccemended i get more.

You don't need the warm white right now, unless you want a fuller spectrum of light.Just get four daylight cfl's that oughta do ya for a little while. What's your budget?

Well, I'm not trying to be nosy or anything. Here's a link to a 400 watt grow light from htg.http://www.htgsupply.com/viewproduct.asp?productID=47981It's the one I have, but I'm not using it right now because I have to have better venting and cooling methods before I fire that bad boy up.It comes with a timer, a mh conversion bulb, and hps bulb, and a reflector...everything is wired up already, you just plug it into a 3 pronged outlet after you assemble the reflector and screw in the bulb, hang it, and grow. There are smaller lights available as well. This is what I use right now, but you can't grow more than a couple of plants under it.http://www.htgsupply.com/growlights.asp?categoryID=1&subcategoryID=155&typeID=84
Only minimum right now, but its enough to afford the lights
