Hi friends! Hey, I need a quick 5 minute favor from someone who is using a 220v option on their ballast. Could someone please take a picture of their outlet and the male end of the power cord for me?!?! Thanks for your help guys, +rep for all those that reply!:-P:leaf::-P

Just look at the plug on your dryer, that should be 220v. Newer houses usually have the 4 prong plug, where older homes have the 3 prong, unless they have had the electrical wiring upgraded.

ummmm, ok, lets give a little more details. I took my 220v wires out of my 3prong outlet for my dryer and plan on using its power source in my grow room. But the outlet that you use on the ballasts is different, its not four prong or round like dryers, its similar to a reg outlet but slightly different if i remember correctly. So, again I ask please, if you are using a 220v ballast could you please take a quick pic?!? it would be extremely helpful.

Thanks!

220v ballasts have a different plug than a regular 3 prong 120v and are wired differently.. if you want to run off of a 240v power source then you need a 240v ballast

again I know this! the ballast isn't the problem, I just need to know what the recepticle looks like so I buy the correct outlet.

ok, so thats what my dryer looked like before I gutted the wires and rerouted them to my grow room. Is that a picture of your timer or were you just supplying a picture of the receptacle? I don't want to make light of you helping me because I really appriciate it, but it'd be more helpfull if I could see the power cord coming from a 240v ballast. +rep for you your time. I really appriciate it.

na thats just what i found when i looked at google images and searched for it..

you will need to go to home depot and get a 220v plug or outlet whichever you need and wire them yourself...

now keep in mind that most ballasts do not come with a lamp cord, so maybe the odd thing you are looking at is the short wire with an odd reciever which connects to your lights.. you have to buy that seperately

well, yes and no.... see, when you use a 240v instead of 120v you have different options on receptacles. for instance, I think the last time I had this ballast I had to get an outlet that looked like this

Anyways, they're not all universal or even one used primarily. The outlet that is needed for the power cord exiting the ballast needs to plug into a receptacle. This is what I need a picture of.

Are you trying to wire in a ballest to a 220 outlet? Or are you trying to attach a cord to it?

I'm wiring in a 220v outlet and need a pic of the outlet I need to buy. I went to Home Depot and they had a dozen dif varieties. I don't have the ballast yet, but the cord that it has the option to buy to use the 220v supply has no pictures! hence me trying to find a pic through actual growers

yup, thats what its coming to i'm afraid. Was just trying to stay busy while I wait for my taxes to come in. Can't wait to post some pics. I've built the ultimate hidden grow room in my house. even my landlord doesn't know its there! thanks for your help, and if you're a new poster and happen to use a 240v ballast, I'd LOVE to see a pic! anyways, thanks again and +rep to all those who responded

If theres three wires, then just get the 220 oulet that's the cheapest and most commonly used. Also, when choosing the outlet, base it uppon the cord you will be plugging into it. There are to many different outlets to give you a correct answer. Just use one that is capible of handling the 220 volts. Thats it...

thats just a 240 volt cord. I thought you needed a oulet?
Yup, i do. but that shows the male end of the cord, ie: what you were referring to. but this shows my what type of outlet I need to buy and put into the room. next job will be much easier, just need regular 120v line. this I can handle ;) thanks again everyone! much love
