hey guys im fixing to purchase either an 8 inch or 6 inch mountain air or phresh filter (still trying to decide which is better for odor control) and need to know how many cfms i should be running to accurately control odor. my exhaust pipe is 6 inch in a 4x4 tent with a 1000 watt hps. The problem is my fan is non adjustable and is rated at 440cfms. Should i get the 6 or 8 inch filter? Im still sonewhat new to indoor this will be my fourth grow. Thanks guys i really need the help.

phresh/phat filters are what I ALWAYS use these days. I would go with the 6"X24" one. for that fan u got;-)

Thanks, but after doing more extensive research I find that the phresh filters do not have the best rating as far as odor control goes compared to a mountain air which is almost a hundred more bucks. Theyre expensive but security is definately at the top of my concern. From what I have found my option with mountain air is as follows:

" This 6" filter is effective to 580 cfm and maintains its odor-stopping power for 36 months. Unit measures 10" in diameter, 42.5" long, and weighs 41 lbs. Includes 6" flange."

Does this sounds good for a 4x4 tent with an inline running constantly at 440cfms??

Damn, that's a big(size wise)ass filter!
It should be good for your fan(cfm wise);-)
Btw, i've never had any security issues with phresh filters, Out of MANY. Your call, good luck
