Need Help w/ Fan Hookup (Electrical)

So I bought two of these fans



I open it up and plan on setting the speed to low (instead of high) and have one for fresh air into the grow box and one for filtered air out of the box.

Here is the setup ...



So my question is, how do I hook this up to an extension cord? My extension cord is green, black, and white inside. I want them both to be on 'low speed' to help reduce noise. This is for a grow cabinet to be used with a simple screen/mesh -> PVC -> Activated Carbon for a filter.

Help!

It appears that your fan does not have a 'ground' connection. I have an S&P 125 and it didn't come with a 'ground' connection either. It must only be offered on the larger models.

Anyway, the "green" wire coming from the extension cord is likely the 'ground', so just electrical tape it up, you won't need it.

If you want it hooked up to the low speed, connect the "white" extension cord wire to the white connection on the fan. Connect the "black" extension cord wire to the center (should be brown) connection on the fan.

I hope that makes sense, and I'm assuming that you physically know how to hook up the wires, just let me know if you don't.

what specialkayme said. But just to be sure, what model do you have? It seems that S&P's fans aren't always like the instructions say they are! At least that's how mine have been. Be sure to tape that ground wire off. White to White, Black(on ext. cord) to Brown. If you don't want to use that little plastic thing (I chose not to on my 100 model), you can use wire nuts.

Oh yeah, hey my bad man. If you've got the 200 or 200x model, whatever.. It's White to White, Black to Brown like mentioned before for low speed. High is obviously W to W, B to B. But for SURE do NOT hook up all 3 of those fan wires at the same time to the extension cord. One is NOT the ground for sure, and you will fry the fan! Just letting you know, because that happened to me! Luckily they gave me a new one free! +rep to www.hvacquick.com haha. Peace!

Just follow the diagram Green = ground. White = neutral. Black = low or high speeds

Just got my 125 and it pretty interesting. I am currently trying to figure out how to take the fan off the housing without being too aggressive and bending something. lol

What are you confused about? My 125 was very straight forward.

Hey specialkayme I hooked a computer power cord up to the fan and it works but it doesnt seem like its 197 CFM. An there is a funny smell comming from it. Maybe burning but like a painty/plasticy smell. Did I fuck up something?

I have the base 100 model. So what do I do, unscrew the screws on top and put my extension cord wires in there? Or do they go in the side? Do I cut the wires shown in the photos?
