Okay, here's the story (which isn't true, completely false, entirely made up). A close acquaintance of mine gave me this plant, which is I believe around a month old (grown on a window sill). I am interested in growing for light personal consumption. I have transplanted it from a very small pot to one a bit larger with some potting soil, added a CFL, and put it in a cupboard of some kind. The space is limited so I am going to start 12/12 tomorrow to see how it goes. The thing is, this is my first grow and from what I have read the plant is exhibiting both male and female signs. I have no idea which it is, any help would be great!

To be honest, its not a very good looking plant. No sense in wasting your time on this runt. if you enjoy growing and are interested in smoking something that you nurtured, just save a few seeds from your bag and germinate them. Grow them until flowering time. Keep the healthiest female and you're in there like swim wear. It will be much more satisfying and worthy of your time and effort.

Alright, thanks. Does the overall setup look okay for a single plant? Not much in the light department, but I do plan to add more. This first one is more of a test run than anything. The plant is on an adjustable shelf so I can easily adjust how close the plant(s) are to the light.

Get more light and you'll be good to go. If you can manage to get 3 40watt CFLs, you'll get some nice nugs from your little grow.

That plant is definately something you dont want. As for your set up. Its hard to tell but it looks very small. Do you have any ventilation? How tall is it? Is that one CFL with heat cone all your using?
