Hi! Can someone help me know when its the proper time to start lst ( low stress training) for larger yeild on an auto flower plant. My plants are 5wks old. Here are the pics.
Can you see any evidence of pre-flowers starting to form? It's not completely unheard of for auto's to turn out to be something else, fems or regs.

Is this a sign of pre-flowering
Yeah it looks like the main cola starting to form but there should be other sites showing pre-flowers as well. Maybe it's right at the beginning of pre-flowers forming, in which case you'll start to see them form over the coming days.

Personally I would not train or top your first grow. Odds are your gonna fuck up this grow, lord knows it was like that for me. Autos are know to be a bitch to problems as well. Autos have very little room for error since they are on a set schedule. Your first couple grows should focus on improving your skill and learning from your mistakes. Dont try to do it all your first grow. If you think your gonna get alot your first grow, odds are you probably won't. Some people have a green thumb though from the start. My story is I killed tons of plants learning, got only 15 grams off my first grow with three plants!!! My second grow, i got an ounce off of two, and now my third grow looks pretty dam good. Wayyy better than the last two grows. Focus on just growing your plant, dont try to do fancy shit yet. Thats my advice.

Idk. I don't agree with much of this at all. A 1st time grower can easily get a great harvest not needing "luck", but just by not being dumb. Plants don't need much. Soil/meduim to grow in, food wether organic or bottles, lighting, decent temperature and airflow. Thats it. Plants outside don't get lux meters and ppms tested and blah, blah, blah. People(especially new growers) try to do too much. It's the Tony Montana Scarface syndrome. Want to be "the man" and not care to learn or have good genetics and equipment to do it the right way. Topping? Maybe not on the 1st grow cause you have no idea how it grows. LST? Absolutely go for it. Can't hurt anything by just softly tieing arms down for more light and canopy management. Autos are not really as hard as people make it as long as you don't force more on them than they need. They can be traines, topped, transplanted and everything a photo can do except from producing anything smokable from a "clone". Biggest issuse is they usually like lighter nutrients. As long as OP doesn't over water and over feed, 15 grams from 3 plants was you as a grower and not you as a 1st time grower. OP SHOULD be fine cause it seems she likes to ask questions when needed.

Most of my issues were caused by the lack of resources. Each grow had different conditions with this grow having the best by far. Some times its not being stupid its about not having enough money, or buying the wrong crap. Any way, I told my story. Most people will not do amazing there first grow in my opinion. Not saying you can't, just saying its probably not realistic. No matter if you did terrible your first time or not, keep trying, and learn from your mistakes.

But you don't make "store opening" signs before you own a store do you? If you don't have money for proper equipment for proper plants, how can you expect good results? If the OP spent time reading and put good money into good equipment rhan she will have bettwr results than someone who most likely wanted to make a quick buck and therefore bought cheap equipment and seeds. Do you, but your discouragement because you didn't research enough and have a good plan/equipment(bases on what you said of different mishaps all grows) doesn't mean other 1st time growers won't do above average if they plan right and treat the plant right.

If you plan, most first timers i guarantee you dont. Hence why we have this website. I learn from my mistakes. I had to learn the hard way to get to were I am at today with everything in life. Planning is the best, but most dont plan. Lord know I didn't my first or second grow, my third was better, but that was more because I learned as I went. Growing pot is definitely not like growing basil thats for certain. This was a goal of mine, and I can proudly say I'm getting better at my craft. Some day I will be like some of the greatest on here, I know it.

Here’s update pictures of the plants. This is two weeks later from when I posted pics. How are they looking? Btw I never LST in fear I was going to mess the plant up ,being it’s my first time. So Im focusing more on getting the hang of growing and noticing signs that plants give if they are lacking something. Or have too much of something (ie : nutes , light , water , etc. ) tell me what y’all think

Looking good. What strain? Obviously more/mostly Sativa with those thun leaves and nice spacing between nodes. I like Sativas more myself.
