okay, So I am looking at spending about 230 on some more grow equipment for my next grow.

I currently have:
76x76x76 tent.
1x 400 Watt Cool tube
1x 4" 170 CFM inline fan.

My first grows were in a 3x3 tent.
So since I upgraded I was thinking about getting another 400 watt cooltube kit.
but here is where I can decide.

Im not sure If i should buy a 6" Valuline Fan. $88 (Cool the lamps.)
or the C.A.P TMP-DNe controller. $64

the reason I cant decide it is get pretty cold here. So im not sure If i will need the fan to cool the lights. or if the controller will be worth it to keep the plants warm only at night.

I would like some peoples opinions. (::joint:

Light question:
K so I will be running 2 400 watts.. one with a MH the other with HPS.
the MH is 35000 lumens and the HPS is 55000
so total of 90000 lumens
I have a 76"x76" grow room,
so a total of about 42 square feet. And if I did the math right
90000/42= 2142 lumens per square foot
Would that be enough for about 8 plants.? I want about 4 under each bulb

hey im new here but ive done a few indoor grows usually i try to aim for about 100 watts per plant you have 2 400 watts so i think youd be fine going with 8 plants on that i have a hortilux hps for my 1000watt and i usually run 10 under it and get a good yield. hope this helps

Yea I would think that's just about right. I can grow 4 nice bushes comfortably under a 400w. I almost bought a controller myself but then realized I didn't really need it. I have just a 5x5 foot tent and have my filter hooked up to inline and I just leave my light alone, The temps outside are around 40ish so with the window cracked it stays a steady 71-73 with lights on, then I just plug in the heater for lights out, I like to keep my fan running non stop because I don't like that funky smell to build up.

why not upgrade to 1000 watt light ???? would probably work perfect in that space to get maximum yield

True dat! or even 600's...... If i could redo anything I woulda spent that lil extra $ for a 600 instead of my 400. I know alot of people who say that.

if you upgrade to 1000 watt theirs a lot more heat ventilation needed so watch out for that but thats a good size for 1000 watt if you decide to try that out sometime.

thanks guys!

Anyone know a good priced 1000 watt? With a digital ballast?
Amazon would be the best place that i could buy, I have the Store card.

around 200-250

and do you think I could just buy a 1000 watt ballast and a bulb and throw it in my cool tube I have now?

well the op his talking about adding or having 2 - 400 watter in there i say fck that with ballests etc his heat would be higher prob then if he went 1 1000 i am sorry but i tryed a 400 before and let me tell you it was like watching paint dry it as so slow in growth
so he's mentioning to 400 = 90,000 lumens i think a 600 what be more effiecient and a 1000 would give 140,000 lumens so whats actually better ????? he has venting and i swear once you upgrade in lighting it becomes more fun cause you can see massive growth fast ???

Ive been thinking about a 600 and my current 400 so around 135000 lumens

whats the temps like in the room now?

I personallky like to constantly exchange air. SO I have a window open in the room with my tent and Im running my exhaust into another room, that way the stink never lingers and fresh CO2 is being introduced... I don't cool my light but I don't need to being in a basement

Im in a basement also but the summers here are pretty hot, but right now in the room its about 63 and outside is pretty cold, like 35

Im kind of thinking it wont get over 85 in the room, and I Can always hook my 170 cfm fan up to it if needed. and I can open a window

in my 3x3 with my 400 it got pretty hot like 95 wihtout the inline fan in the summer, So I think the new room and tent will be able to handle the lights
and i will have a bigger fan in there to blow the plants around

I dont like to order shit until I know if I have it right other people think its a good idea, ya know?

I think ill order the light then (:

is a batwing or a cooltube better?

I know you cant cool a bat wing but is it better with directing light?

and im thinking if I can find a 1000 watt Ill just use one in the room. and if I decide I want more light ill put my 400 in there too
But I cant seem to find one on amazon ): for around 230

But from what I am looking at, a 1000 watt light only puts about 125,000 lumens

my 400watt puts out 55,000 and the 600watt im looking at getting the light puts out 90,000 lumens
So 145,000 total, and still be using 1000 watts.

So is would it be better to have both or only one 1000 watt?
