Need help germinating and growing orchids

From my experience once they're going they don't take that much care. But the amount of water to plant food has to be an exact science. My father figured it out and always had beautiful orchids. All mine died. Hope you have better luck than I!

iv'e never grown from seed. I'm too impatient. if you're new to the third biggest family in the plant kingdom its probably better to start off with a plant from home depot or lowes. they're inexpensive and it gives you a place to start. propagation is a specialized science. orchids don't just germ and grow like other plants. the medium you grow in is even different.

My mind didn't even go to germination of seeds. I was only thinking of growing. Lol

Germinating them is probably too big a bite to chew to start out. They're a very different flower than most, but if you have a hydroponics background they're actually easier than if you came from standard veggie or soil gardening. It's possible to grow orchids hydroponically too, although you could argue that they already kind of grow that way in nature :P. There is a cool YouTube guy called Brad's Greenhouse that has a lot of orchid care tips. That's where I started w/ mine:
