I have 6 dinafem HAZE AUTOS, 1 syrup, 1 white dwarf, 1 diemos from buddah all freebies from TUDE so i figured i would use these to try the hempy bucket method...So far great i think..I used rapid rooter plugs in the dome i was told to keep the rooter on top of the perlite i barried only a portion of the rapid rooter is this right just saw someone who planted the whole rockwool cube underneather perlite and they hold more water than rapid rooterhows i think but i thought this would rot the roots is this the right way??? Also i have them in 16oz red plastic cups but im gonna need to transplant again into 1-2 gallon buckets..How do i transplant?? just cut of the bottom of the cup or what..Also when cutting if this how u do it r u gonna cut roots and will this mess up ur plant if u do??PLEASE HELP SOONbongsmilie

Brock,
put your hand over the 16oz cup with the stem between your fingers then turn it upside down and the plant will come out of the cup. Then put in to the 2-3 gal hempy bucket.
I would suggest you try adding some OC+ or Dynamite red fertilizer to the perlite before you plant. Add a tbsp at the 2 inch level where the hole is then mix more through out the perlite. Like maybe 2 tbsp per gal. Then all you have to do is water till you see run off from the hole. If you notice any deficiencies you can adjust as needed. ie. some epsoms or some flowering nutes when ready.
I finished a Northern Light hempy grow a few weeks ago and it turned out great. Very easy for a beginner.
Sorry my journal is not on this site but one of the others that starts with a four and a two and a zero. Lot of good info on hempys there, and here also of course.
Warning, a hot room will use up the OC+ faster. But you can always top dress with more if needed.
good luck
HH

i use 100% per in my hempys, i do flood and drain but like to keep my moms going in 5 gal hempys they have always worked good for me. i have found a good feeding schedule is needed as for if you feed every time the accumulated water at the bottom gets stronger and stronger eventually burning up your plants. so i water, water, feed, water, water, feed etc etc.... just a heads up, and for the transplant just like HASH said usidown and the loose per will fall away leaving your root mass there just bury it in the next bucket. for the RW i bury mine completely not 6" deep or nothing just right under the surface, because when the plant is first put in the bucket the roots are not going to be far down so i water mainly the middle towards the stem, as she gets older and more rooted i will water the outside around the edges more to get the roots to the whole bucket (basically the same concept as a drip ring).

Brock.

I used about 2/3 perlite and 1/3 magik-moss, a potting soil from local garden center. It's made by pvpindustries.( http ://www.pvpind.com/product_potting_soil.html ) Sphagnum peat moss and it's loaded with perlite and vermiculite. The bag is light as a pillow compared to most bags of soil.

Problem with perlite or even with the mix i used is it floats around a lot when you water. After a few waterings I put some aquarium gravel on top to keep it in place. I should have done that on my current soil grow also. And next time I am going to use some cloth type weed block as a gnat prevention measure. Haven't had a problem, but a friend does and I don't want any tagging along me for a ride to the grow room and finding a home.
Also use hot shot pest strip for a little peace of mind for bug control.
They grow like crazy in a hempy. Think of doing some selective pruning or shaping. I did some LST and it made for a few huge buds on top. One plant filled 3x3 room.

First pic shows 5 NL. 3 males and 1 hermie. Only one lady left in the middle pic. And a close up of one of the big LSTed buds

I use the rapid rooter and all perlite cover the rapidrooter just under the surface
Water water feed water water feed only enough so it drains out the hole a little

I used square 4 gl buckets, but most of the other guys I read up on are using 2.5 gal waste baskets you can find at the dollar stores or any other discount store in your area. They are for the most part rectangular. Lot better for cramming in close if space is an issue. 3 gal rounds would be good too. I only used 4 gals cause I already had them on hand.
I also got some black 3 gal round at the local grocery store where they sell cut flowers. They gave me some for free. Keeping them for future use.
The rule I always hear is 1 gal per foot.

RW is short for rock wool and it gets buried right under the surface if left exposed it could accumulate algae or mold.

you will be fine i put mine straight into 5 gal pot after the roots pop from the rock wool and never have a problem, 2 gal should be good for auto's as well should have a good grow.
