i have a grow room thats 5 x 4 x 6.6, 600W hps/mh and mylar walls. I need to put in a exhaust and intake tube some how but i dont know how to make them. I was looking at Home depot and fans that have 70cfm cost around $30 each, would a 70cfm fan be good for a grow room this size? also would it be be better to use the tubes for dryers or straight metal tubes? should i duct tape the fans to the tubes and thats it? ventilation system complete? any help would be greatly appreciated:bigjoint:

??????any ideas or previous knowledge would be great?????????
hey man i have found the straight tubes if you can use work best less resistance as for the duct tape that is what is for so go ahead seal it up you want your exhaust fan pulling out of the top and you want your intake as far away from that as possible (opposite corner at bottom i have the same set up sucking hot air out top of tent pumping fresh cool air in bottom as for cfm 5x5x6 is roughly 120cf so 70 should clear it out in two minutes so it should work just fine without to much resistance if you are gonna run a carbon filter you will need way more cfm to pull through it

I have a smaller grow room than you, and I use 2 6'' inline fans, one for intake and one for exhaust. A 70cfm fan will not do much at all. Especially after you put ducting on the fan, it cuts the amount it can blow pretty significantly. So, I would do it right, invest in some inline fans, they are very efficient and powerful. They come in handy when it gets hot and you need a little more power in you ventilation system. Also, don't buy heavy metal ducting, get the tubing from home depot, its light weight, flexible, and not very costly.

you want to get an 8 inch valueline fan from eBay or similiar and maybe a 6 inch if that is too expensive. Valueline is the cheapest but I have two and they work fine. Then at home depot or lowes get some insulate ducting the same size in diameter as your fan. Hook up the fan on the roof of the grow box and put a tube in the grow box and another tube pushing air out of the grow area completely! It has to pushed out all the way or really no point. Also you can attach a carbon scrubber in yer growbox too. Better do that now in fact. Also cut some holes or one along the bottom of the box so as to allow for intake. Put a metal elbow in their so as to not let light leek in.

The fan is loud. So for 10 bucks build a box and put the fan in there. But build it out of soundboard. The fan is loud! Real loud but you can silence it very easy with a box or blankets wrapped around it. Lots of blankets.
