NEED HELP 400 watt hps!

Ok so i just got my 400 watt hps from UPS!! But i need a lil help with the wires it came with socket and reflector and a big box with two cords coming out

1 that plugs into the wall
and the other has 3 wires 1 black 1 white and 1 green

at the socket there are only 2 wires 1 black and 1 white

my question is where does the green one go.......its ground wire right so do I just cap it off or do I screw it down to something metal

There should be some kind of set screw on/in the ballast for you to attach that green wire to. Yes its ground and yes you want to attach it to something metal on that ballast, preferably the metal housing if that's metal. You also want to make sure that the outlet your plugging into is grounded otherwise the green wire isnt doing its job anyway.
