I am considering growing with soil for my first grow. I know that grow FAQ's has some good info, but I am not looking for cut and paste info. I want to know the facts that all of you have learned from trial and error. What type of soil do I use? What nutes? How do I check the ph? etc. EVERYTHING!!! Please tell me what you all know. Leave out nothing, and if you have them give me links to grow journals that will explain step by step. Thank you all in advance.

I agree. You can also add a digital ph meter and a remote temp/humidity reader. A carbon filter and can fan too, but only if you need it. Make sure to get soil grow and soil bloom for botanicare, easy to accidently get the hydro mixes.

good stuff all thank you much. do you start plants in rock wool and then transplant to soil? how long after sprout do I start nutes? and I only use 1/4 strength right? only water if top layer is dry? how often on average is this (watering)?

I start mine directly in the soil after soaking for 12 hours in RO water. Plant in a small pocket of perlite/vermiculite and keep moist till it sprouts. Usually sprouts in 2-3 days
