Need creative intake/exhaust ideas..

The new/future headquarters is approximately 4 X 4 X 6 area.

I am concerned about the stagnant air.
The area is totally sealed with clear plastic tarp, and I mean fuckin TOTALLY.
--Roof,walls, floor

I then added styrofoam boards to cover up most of the tarp area surrounding where my babies will be. I will add to the reflective material as needed to compensate for the growth, but for starts I shall keep it as short and closed off as best I can.
--OH, and the styrofoam came with one side coated with reflective silver, almost like tinfoil by the looks but a bit more flat.

Now back on topic...
I sealed the room as to reduce the chances that a wandering pest might infiltrate my fortress and breed/eat.. Also, to reduce the smell from escaping to the outside...

SO basically there is no way for fresh air to get in without me leaving the door open which would just totally nullify all my hard work and decent ideas...

Any good ideas? I have ducting, as my first thought, but the path to fresh air is a long swerving trek.

I doubt this is a situation that RIU can help me with, not too many options... But i wanted to post and just ask you all bc your combined skills are sick wit it, on an exponential level!!!!!

I can post a pic if needed but I doubt seeing a square box sealed with plastic is much more helpful than words...

thanks,

Depending on how big the box is ? ...you could box off a corner etc and have a carbon filter hidden inside it (so it not visible from the in or outside..) and you could punch holes in from the back behind the unit for the exhaust to escape out of.. (mounted up high at opposite ends from the intake!)

....and as your intake either have a passive opening on the floor..or if the rooms slightly bigger then attach a small inline intake fan until the correct level of negative pressure is achieved ..(if you can raise the unit up a few inches this will help with air flow and keep noise level minimal..

I guess we need to figure out what size space we're talking about 1st :) ....just an idea...plenty more available ...Hope that helps - ZTELTHY :leaf:

Good thoughts my man, much thanks.

Its just tricky bc the "box" is small room to the side in the attic. Im not using the whole room just the back portion. There is only one wall (back wall) that is connected to the exterior of the house. The other wall is the main attic wall facing inside the house and the other is just some wood/insulation and behind that is the rest of the attic, which is just a much smaller crawl space. Oh and the room is in the corner of the house so the roof of the chamber is slanted like, well.. a roof...

my chamber is highest at 6ft and slants down to about 4 ft....

am I describing it proficiently?

Search "sealed room grow". If you can go for C02 and climate control, then you won't need intake and exhaust.

yea ok cool, thanks. Thats why I posted.. i just need another's perspective and Id rather ask on internet than be like,,,"hey roomy, look at why the energy bill gradually increased, you got any ideas for vents?"

hah

Perhaps you could run an intake with a dust shroom? It will keep EVERYTHING out. haha. And then just run your carbon filter for exhaust. :)

Good Luck!

I use a 6" Odor Sok on my intake..to keep dust and bugs etc out.. it does a great job and only needs to be hoovered every couple of months but the amount of crap that comes off it (fluff etc) is incredible...and I am so glad that it doesnt get chance to contaminate my grow space :)

Can you post up some pics, as it'll help us help you :) - ZTELTHY :leaf:

I shall get some pics up as soon as I can safely do so.. The room is def hidden from all and Id hate a housemate come stumblin around asking to use my butter or whatever... The room is coming along nicely though considering I can only construct it whilst im home alone. Its like the highlight of my day or week when I get a chance to work though!!! well second only to pettin my purdy lil babies in the small chamber..

thanks for keepin up riu!!

Another idea.. or question rather...

My chamber, currently empty and being constructed, has insulation on roof and walls. I suped up the roof insulation but the walls are just reg stock insulation that was put in ages ago just as normal housely insulation. I have plastic up on my walls but I have access to more insulation, should I worry about adding more to the bare side (inside chamber) of my walls? Its in an attic that will get super hot in the summer.. whatchaz thinkz?

You may not want to but your best bet would be to cut a hole in your roof and add a roof style exhaust. Its easy! Lay vent on roof, mark outer edges, moves in and find the center from that and cut a circle. After hole is cut, slide vent under singles on upper side of vent and allow the bottom to sit on shingles. A bead of caulking under the vent will waterproof it. Screw down evenly like you would tighten a car tire by alternating screws. You can cut the hole and install the vent in 20 minutes if you're slow. After that, you can do all of you're connecting from inside and your vent will look normal as they're on all homes.

thanks for your time!!

a roof vent is a damn good idea.. I could easily install it physically but I am hesitant to draw that kinda attention and dont wanna fuck up the house as I do not own it...

well fuck it up in a more permanent way than I already have... Its dedf a thought tho. ill consider it!

thanks

If its on the rear of the house no one will notice it. If you caulk with good caulk made for roofing you'll actually help the house by giving the attic more exhaust. Look for a vent similar to what's already on your home or at least the same color. If you can't match it then match to shingle color. I think this would be your most reliable, safest and cheapest way of doing it without being conspicuous. PS-make sure the caulk is made for high temps. Good luck!

Just moved my babies into their new WAY stealthier home..Its a fuckin tight ass fit but they all snug...plants are 7in away from a board i rigged with 16 cfls.. mainly 5000-6500 k but also a few lower k bulbs evenly spread as to give them a full spectrum. Just fed them ff grow.. hope they love it

I got a light intensity reader... Even with 16+ cfls 7inches away the intensity is shit.. I moved the plants to within about 2.5-3 inches away. and the seem much happier now then they were a mere few hours ago.. yay...
